That depends on the community. Some schools start in early August, some after Labor Day (first Monday in September.)
Winter break varies too. Some start as early as the 17th of December and some go until the 23rd. Some come back on January 2, others come back later.
Our district has a spring break the last week of March. Others have time off in April.
Of course I am only speaking for the United States. Other countries may have totally different customs.

There is no exact dates. Various institutions have various breaks for Christmas/Haunakka/Kwanza and for the Eastern vacation I can only assume is around the Easter break.
