Bed times usually are 8:00-8:30PM.
A good idea would be not to allow your child pop like coke, Pepsi things of that sort. No sugar candy,
Gum that contains no sugar is better.
Milk, water and juice is better.
Caffeine will keep children awake so stay away from that.
No rough play that causes excitement 1 hour before bedtime. Read a story then have your child take a warm bath just before bedtime.
Tug him/her in, give a kiss and say Goodnight and prayers etc.. Hope this has helped you.

I'd say about 8:30/9:00 It depends on what time the child has to be up and the child him or herself too. I like to let them watch a show that they really like while they have a bedtime snack. Than it's upstairs for bath and brushing teeth. Usually the bath will relax the child and if you take them to bed instead of bringing them back downstairs for anything your chances of them staying relaxed are better. Than it's time for a story or just a chat and off to sleep.

Well, I have a 6 year old boy and I have found that cutting off any stimulants i.e. sugar, T.V. about two hours before bed and then READ them a nice happy story to build dreams upon. It usually works like a charm. I have found that 8:30 bed time ( lights out ) is a reasonable time and getting up at 6:45-7:00 if school begins at 8:00

Establish a "bedtime routine." It works even for us adults... it is a signal to your body that it is time to go to sleep. My daughter takes baths at night instead of in the morning. So her routine is to take her bath, play and relax in the tub. Get out, put jammies on and brush her teeth. I blow dry her hair and she gets in bed. I read her a story some nights, others she listens to a book on tape or a relaxation cd. She's usually out cold in about 20 minutes. You'll find that it will signal you to wind down, too. Good luck!

My kids always went to bed at 9pm when they were young. We had a routine that never varied. We would start getting ready for bed earlier, get stuff ready for the next day, clothes, lunches whatever, then read and talk about the day for a while. Nothing loud or exciting, just quiet talk and reading. I was usually sleepy before them!!

I've heard that if you have milk before bed you will fall asleep faster if that helps.
Just let them do something quiet before bed. Read them a book in bed so theres a possibility they'll fall asleep before the story's over.

I use to put my kids to bed 1/2 hour earlier than I wanted them to have lights out. They were only allowed to read nothing else that would stimulate their mind. Nine times out of ten I was taking the book out of their sleeping hands and turning out the lights.

6 years old - I would put to bed around 8pm. Giving a hot bath then reading and coloring or practicing writing or something is a great way to do it. I have twins and it works great.
