Has anyone ever tried to kill a cat flea with a regular 9 volt battery, say like are used in a smoke detectors?

If you took about a teaspoonful of baking soda in a cup of water, wet your cat with it (assuming you cat had fleas) would a 9 volt battery just annoy the flea, paralyse it, or kill it?

If you ever put a 9 volt battery to your tongue, you only feel a mild and unusual sensation, it would not likely hurt a cat

This question has much to do with how would the nervous system of the flea react.

It really depends on the ampage, not the voltage. A standard electric fence runs at 15, 000 volts and I've seen ants zapped by them. The only effect on the ant is that it staggers for a few moments.

Volatge doesn't really tell youmuch about the effect of electricity on an animal. It's only half the story.

It depends on his internal resistance, I guess. How much amperage can you get from a 9V battery?

It is likely that it won't do much, unless directly applied to your poor, little drawn and quartered flea....

When applied to your cat, it will affect the cat, not the fleas since your cat is the least resistive thing there... so don't go thinking that you can toss a hairdrier into the tub with your cat to get rid of it's fleas. You'll electrocute Kitty before a single flea bites the dust.

Why dont u use a flea powder or something.

I think fleas would die,

By the way.. do you know if u are suffering from malaria and someone kills you, the malarial parasite would all die,.. a very effective way of eradicating malaria isn't it?

I dunno. Ask a flea. That's the only way you'll find out. The cat would kill you for wetting it down long before you'd find anything on it. But hey, try it - tell us what happens.

I honestly can't say that I've ever tried that one.

But I think if I were to try it, I'd make sure the cat I used was de-clawed.

You'd kill the flea and burn your cat. Maybe not kill him/her, but you will make it very irritable.
