Fewer than ages past I would say. But the breed of man you describe and are probably looking for is out there. The trick is that in a changing world, they'll have to alter themselves to act or appear a little different than you might expect. It just takes a lot of time to find one. Chances are good that you'll find about 3 of them in your answers, and about 15 more people that want to fake it. But keep looking out there, you'll find one.
