Even though i hv seen doctors b4 they couldn't do much to help other than asking me to relax. Can anyone recommend any method to reduce stress?

I know its hard to relax, but often if i lose alot of sleep its because i think to much about stuff and day dream when i should be sleeping. a little trick i use is keeping your mind blank (think of the color black, don't day dream anything, just close your eyes and see black) and periodically tighten the muscles in your legs and relax. could also be that your bed is to comfortable or not comfortable enough. try altnerative beds

Well you could give this a try for your stress and it should help you relax more, but it won't be fun. Remove all caffeine (that includes chocolate), alcohol, and nicotine from your diet. Go to bed the same time everyday and get up at the same time. Give yourself 6 to 10 hours a night depending on what you personally need. In the meantime get yourself to a counselor, (avoid the drug pusher psychiatrists or you'll end up trying a million drugs with a million different side effects before you really get anywhere, or get worse). If you can't afford one, try finding low cost or no cost services in your state. Like I said it's not a fun alternative but eventually it's gonna be a stay in the Mental Health ward instead and they'll make you take that choice but with some fun bonuses, like the drug pushing doc, locked doors, and a nightie nite pill or shot. The brain can't function on no sleep forever, but I'm sure you already know that. Good Luck.

I've suffered from insomnia for 6 years and unfortunately the only thing I found to work was sleep medication. I tried EVERYTHING else, nothing worked. I also tried more than 15 different sleep medications before my new doctor suggested Lunesta. I was put on it when it first came out and I love it. I have not had any of the side affects of other ones and it works so much better. And it has been shown to be less addicting than others (of course there's always that possiblity with any drug). So if nothing else works for you, I'd suggest talking with your doc about it.

I went to a sleep therapy class at Kaiser back in 1999. They said I had a bad "Sleep Hygiene." It is basically a bad sleeping pattern. I do not go to bed at the same time, nor do I wake up at the same time every day. Once I did that, I was fine.

I am back to a bad pattern again. I have tried, writing my thoughts on paper. That helps sometimes. Reading, helps sometimes. Those sound therapy Cd's like the Monroe Institute, help sometimes. Meditating that day, helps sometimes. Running that day, helps sometimes. Having only one cup of coffee, helps sometimes. Avoiding beer and cocktails, sugar all prior to bed. They all help sometimes.

For me, what has really helped, is not worrying about getting sleep. That is probably were the meditation practice helps. I really got good at accepting my current state in a short amount of time. I try to meditate at least 30 mins. every day. Sometimes I get busy, and it is ever other day, or every two days. But even a little helps.

Hypnosis and meditation are two things that I think are widely ignored or have a misconception. And being in either state helps the mind and body calm down and relax. After that state, it feels like a nice power nap. wildmind.org is a nice place to learn about meditiation.

Yeh I was an insomniac for 10 years. Went and got hypnotherapy and after some (expensive) sessions and practising meditation, I am "cured".

I would also suggest seeing a naturopath to assist in the process.

Wow dude! It's not uncommon that bro and sis have sex, but this is terrible! I don't know what to say exsept take your sister to the urgent care to find out. I'll be praying for you, Abortion would only lead to sadness. If you love your sis, then why don't you marry her? Haha, she has to be pretty if you did this. You can only hope for the best.

Sometimes that's just how people are. I have a delayed-thing, I think it's called jet-lag.

Best bet is move a few time zones over so you're right on schedule XD -- joking.

Simple and proper meditation techniques will condition your brain to slow it's inner dialogue- all those racing thoughts.

In the beginning, it may seem difficult to train your mind to stop thinking. You have been taugh to think and solve all your life. But stick to it. The rewards are fantastic.

Exorcise during the day but not at night, you want to wear yourself out if you can also, don't drink caffeine drinks like soda, coffee, tea after the afternoon. In fact, don't drink caffeine at all if you are really bothered.
