you either have a bad ground problem or the flasher has gone bad. change the flasher first and if that does not cure the problem you need to check your ground wires, negative cable from battery to body ground, the engine to body ground or you may have a dirty bulb to socket ground in one of the lights. if the grounds wires check out. then check to see if the idle is set to low, when the car is in gear with the a/c on, if the idle is low the alternator will not put out enough to handle the load, this could be the idle control solenoid not working properly.

ok try this it sounds like you have a heavy duty blinker relay in place of the standard relay what happens is when you turn on the blinker the standard relay builds up heat and kicks out then cools fast then come on again and you see this as blinking but when you use a heave duty blinker relay it takes longer to heat up then the standard relay thus causing a slower blinker ... and when i say takes longer it only takes a half second for a standard blinker to heat up and then cool off and a heavy duty takes about a second on a car but if you were pulling a trailer and burning extra lights the blinker heats up faster thats why there are two types heavy duty and standard ... now if you have a heavy duty relay inplace get you a standard relay cost about 1.99

The only time I have seen this is when attaching a trailor to my car... when the blinker blinks slowly, or not at all, it almost always means that one or more of the light bulbs is going bad or when the trailor was improperly grounded.
I know this doesn't specifically address your issue, but hopefully it suggests some things for you to look into.

It could be a faulty bulb. Sometimes the filament breaks but still touches sometimes. I would change All the bulbs. You may have to replace the socket or take out the bulb to see if it is worn down or rusted up. Not good contact. Good luck!! Replace the flasher too. They are cheap enough to replace.

A simple relay will fix it, It's under ur dash. Dont forget to fill the blinker fluid up. lol... I know how SoCal'ers love to either not use, or leave on them blinkers

There is a small regulator behind the dash just for dash voltage - not sure of the technical name. Also a loose body 2 frame ground or battery 2 frame ground will cause same problem.

Could it be as simple as needing a new bulb for the blinker?

Replace the blinker fuse. It is a larger size fuse.

You may need a flasher in your dash or a bulb could be out at the opposite end you see your turn signal work.

possibly the flasher unit itself is defective-it plugs into the fusebox,I think on that car-look for a round metal unit plugged into box with the fuses-cheap to replace, may solve everytjing.otherwise you have a high resistance or short circuit un t/s system.(you will need a pro for that one)
