Depends on what you mean by healthy...
If you're talking about fat content and calories, they're about the same, but the longer you cook it the more fat will drain out. Also, you can buy ground beef that has a lower percentage of fat or steaks with leaner cuts.
If you're talking about the possibility of foodborne illness, it depends on the type of beef. A steak you can eat undercooked because the bacteria lives on the outside of the cut. So as long as the outside gets cooked, you should be good. Ground beef should always be cooked well done, because the bacteria that was on the outside gets mixed in with the rest of it during the grinding process.
Hope that helps!

Why is it okay to eat a medium rare steak, but not a medium rare hamburger? Harmful bacteria typically reside on the surface of a whole piece of meat like a steak. The high temperature and amount of time required to brown the steak's exterior will kill the surface bacteria and sufficiently warm the center to a safe level. With ground meats, surface bacteria get dispersed throughout the product in grinding.

i prefer med rare ... pink w/juices. it all depends on the person. my opinion: a med to well done person is eating a piece of shoe leather. it is dry and tasteless. as for health bennies? i am not sure ... i would think that a piece fo steak over cooked would have a lot of charcoal and / or grill crap on it being it is being cooked longer.

The last 1/3-1/4 % of the meat you eat, rots before it is fully ingested into your system.
Play it safe ...Try becoming a vegetarian....You will have less worry about your food intake.

well-done is safer, any beef which still has bloody juices is suspect.
