You may not ever be able to get the cat to like the puppy. Sometimes they just don't get along. The best you can do is expose them to each other as frequently as need be, and let them get used to each other. I would guess the cat will probably have more tolerance for the dog once it's no longer a puppy, and not as overly energetic.

Just give it time. If you try to force the issue then they will never be friendly. It may sound stupid but take to the cat about the dog, almost as if it were a small child. My brother-in-law did that when introducing his dog to his g/f cat when they moved in together. They animals now Share a water dish and the cat will curl up with the dog. The dog is a King Sheppard.

Put a leash on your cat and keep it in the same room with the pup. Feed the cat in one corner at the same time that you feed the dog. . Pick the puppy up and take him near the cat and talk to both of them like in baby talk. After a few days they will be used to each other.

if its not a kitten, chances are it will never like it! We got a kitten and a puppy at around the same time once, and they played together and were great friends. Now we have a cat that we had before our current dog, and she hates the dog. He is a golden retriever and he is scared to death of her. She hisses at him and he slinks by and keeps his distance....it gives a new meaning to pusssy whipped! lol

Counseling, like relationship therapy might help. Ask them if they would like to try it in order to become better friends. Go with what they tell you because you can't force therapy on anyone.
