Having coached men in wheelchairs and men with bigger obstacles than you have, I can honestly say that having an autistic son may be a challenge, bu that doesn't mean you're not going to find anyone to date you. The fact is, there IS a woman out there who is very understanding of your situation and would LOVE to date you.

My question to you is, are you willing to pay the price to meet her? I understand that your son takes up a good chunk of your time as well he should. I would strongly recommend using the internet to meet women. When done properly you can really set up meetings to meet them and if they qualify to your standards you can then take her out on a date.

Don't place this limiting belief in your belief system because it WILL become a self-fulfilling prophecy if you don't eliminate it. I would put in your profile that you have one son who has special needs. The fact is, you're going to be the one initiating the contact because women generally do NOT contact men online.

You can find the right woman, if you're willing to work for it.

i to am a single dad with an autistic son. while many people have said that if a woman won't date you because of your son she isn't worth your time, may be right. but what they fail to understand is that most people see autistic kids as violent or destructive on many tv programs.what they don't see is some of them are very social and loving. while my son is 14 doesn't talk and is still in a diaper, he is very loving and would walk up to a perfect sttranger and give them a kiss if i let him. finding a mate is very difficult for dad's in our situation. i've been looking ever since i got divorced 6 yrs ago. just remember as long as you and your son can be happy a girl or boyfriend which ever you prefer is just extra gravey. so enjoy life and hang in there

Someone with a kind and loving heart. Have you tried a support group for parents of autistic children? If you can't find the time to go in person, theres groups online. Yes its more challenge, but at least when that person you do find sticks around, your more likely to know how genuine they are. Good luck.

There is someone out there for you. Having an autistic son shouldn't stop anyone from loving you. They'll appreciate you for who you are.

Date women and get to know them, but most importantly let them get to know you. Be honest from the beginning and let them know about your son's condition. If a woman gets to know and love you, she will eventually love your son too because he's a part of you. I wish you the best. Good luck.

Someone who is interested in you!

If a woman walks away because of your son, she's not the right person for you anyway.

First off, hats off to you to be taking care of your son. Im sure its a difficult and sometimes stressing situation. However, any lady or man, whichever your prefrence, would be lucky to be with a caring man as yourself. Dont fret, everything happens for a reason.

Any woman who got to know you and sees how much you care for your son. You'd be surprised how much that kind of fatherly love will impress a woman.
