Is this a belief shared by all Christians?

Cancer is caused by a mutation or break down in the body. Some leading causes of cancer are smoking, poor diet and stress.

Those who state that god gives cancer or aids or any other disease to sinners are being judgmental, and should remember that their own Bible and belief system states that If they judge then they too will be judged. Their hypocrisy always galls me.

The only reason we do not hear of such diseases as cancer in biblical times is that people were often too ignorant to know that they were ill, or else they died brutally.

These Christians who said this to you (or on that other board) should recall their own teachings, their folly. In judging so harshly they are also seen as committing a "sin" and that will get them judged for it, in accordance to their own laws.

Remember that there are many innocent children who contract deadly diseases through no fault of their own. They are not "sinners" they are innocent victims.

Turn a deaf ear on the idiots and do what you in your heart knows is right.

I didn't read their comments so all I can say on the matter is that all sickness is a result of the sin that entered this world in Genesis 3. But an individual who gets ill, whether it be cancer or any other type of illness may or may not get it because of personal sin in their lives. In most cases there is no obvious connection between an illness and personal sin. On the other hand I've heard a Pastor testify that when he was in the hospital praying about why God had allowed him to get sick he felt that God was telling him that it was the only way He could get the Pastor to slow down and spend some time with Him, so go figure.

No! If cancer is caused by sin then how come children get it. Children are innocent in ways of sin until they learn to reason. I think cancer is just one of those hardships in life that test our faith. It's kind of like the idea of tir na nog. It's an old irish tale of a place that has neither joy nor sorrow. Because there is no sorrow there can be no joy. To fully appreciate life you have to accept that there will be hardships just as there will be happiness. The two go hand in hand.

This is true in one sense, and false in another.

It is true in one sense, because without Adam's sin, there would be no sickness. When God created the world it was perfect.

It is false in another sense, because there isn't some rule that if you commit sin a certain way so many times you will get cancer. That would be ridiculous. Not all cancer patients have a common sin.

Cancer is caused by a deficiency of vitamin B-17.

No, it is not. If cancer were caused by sin, everyone would have cancer, because there is no one under the age of five who hasn't sinned in one way or another. And if it were caused by sin, then forgiveness should cure it. But that doesn't happen either.

No it is not shared by all Christian sects. there are many causes for dis-ease you can open your self to some of them by to much worry that depletes the body and soul of the strength that it needs to keep such things under control . stress comes in different forms . form not eating a varied diet to to much worrying about thing that you have little or no control over .seems I've repeated my self here. If you believe in reincarnation you set the rules and circumstances that you would live under when you came back to try and learn some lessions that you got wrong in the past life. some of these lessions are very hard that you set your self up for . that includes living with disabilities or having a weak immune system that lets you catch almost every bug that comes around.

I believe that they are saying the original sin from Adam, caused sin and death in the world.Hence, cancer comes from sin. Not because of a specific sin that someone that has cancer has committed, but because we live in a fallen world.
And yes that is a teaching in the Christian church. God created perfection, man sinned by disobedience. Sin causes consequences.

Um, no. They have been misinformed and are also terrible opportunists. To play on the fears of others is against the laws that God has handed to Christians. People like these are the ones giving Christianity a bad name.

no I don't believe that cancer is caused by sin. Now it could be a test like the way that job was tested. It could be caused just because people are destroying our environment and its a biproduct of our own ignorance. It could be a way of God getting someone's attention. He will do that if that's the only way to get your attention.

This is just one of the samples to show how Christians and Science are completely in a hostile situation.
Christians DO NOT study science. They spend most of the time to study bible.
Remember, everyone has 24 hours per day. Who you are is depends on how much time you spend!
Religion is the tumor of Science.
Thank you.
