Into foster care, especially if the mother wasn't able to take care of them, or could they be placed with the grandparents?

One would like to think so, but it's often not the case. If your father is being charged with abuse, the father, or the abuser is usally removed from the environment, not the children. Especially if there is another parent there to care for them.

I don't know all the circumstances regarding what happened, but if the social worker who investigated the case, didn't feel that the other siblings were in harm's way, then they may just remove one child.

If you aren't safe, get in contact with the social worker who removed your brother. Explain to her your situation. Chances are, if the grandparents are willing to take you in, it'll be okay. Social workers try to keep the children within the family and together as much as possible. Being that your brother wasn't placed with the grandparents, there may be certain reasons why not. Such as the grandparents aren't able to take care of you. And if that's the case, start checking with your aunts and uncles...family is best. The foster care system isn't all it's cracked up to be. There are a few good foster families, but most of them just do it for the money and could care less about the kids they are suppose to take care of.

I wish you luck honey.

I was a foster child myself because of abuse I had suffered at home. They found my mother unfit, but didn't remove my brothers from the home. My oldest brother ran away to protect himself from the abuse he was suffering at home. I won't go into details, but that is the way the system works for some kids.
I am now a foster parent. Some of the kids I get in my home need the therapeutic care I can give them, but after the healing process is over (broken bones, etc) the child has often been placed with another family member other than the mother or father. If you feel threatened or are afraid to be at home, please talk to the social worker who is handling this case. Arrangements may be made to protect you as well. Good luck to you, I wish there were more that I could do for you!

Family has the option of having a child placed with them if their home is suitable, before being placed in Foster Care.

More than likely all of the children would be removed from the house. It would be up to the grandparent to go to Children's Protective Services and ask for custody of the kids.

I have a friend that lived with his Grandma because his Dad was abusing his sister. It's really a sad situation.
