Hi Here&Now, I am a Christian, too. I thought I'd make that clear, because I was being rather sarcastic when I asked a similar question here:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj1tkkW12PONv_UzUfko9Evsy6IX?qid=20060817103140AAziI8O

Here's why I even bothered looking at the bitter little screed which is that website. I am concerned about "Baby" Christians, Newborn in Christ, who have only recently responded to the irresistable love of God, but who haven't studied the Bible to any great extent yet. There are many atheists on the web who make it their business to shake the faith of people like that: they are easy prey for sadistic (and often very intelligent) atheists moving in for "the kill." And some rather nice atheists (unaware that they are being used as Satan's tools) are just out to have a little fun at the expense of Christians whom they find arrogant and irritating.

There are questions on the God is imaginary site that might have stopped me in my Christian tracks...TWENTY years ago. Now that I've studied the Bible and seen God at work for so long, the answers to the questions on anti-God sites are so obvious that reading the questions makes me laugh.

I like to run questions like the one I posted once in awhile, and answer questions like yours, to encourage those who are young in the faith. Keep on reading your Bible, and letting the Holy Spirit guide you. He will lead you into all truth. First truths, first, though.

2 Tim. 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Man by Nature are very creative and intelligent animals. (Of course the believers will profess that this a "gift" from their god) Armed with a high I.Q. and a fantastic faculty for reasoning, Man wrote the story of the Bible long ago.

On the other hand, the non-believers, being equally intelligent and creative, pose questions (above web-site is one example & there are many others) which the believers find difficulty in answering.. so they resort to quoting from their holy book, the Bible... insisting that the story, although written by Man, is truly god's word!

Believers " Accept Jesus and you go to Heaven; Refuse and you burn in Hell"

Non-believers: We believe in evolution. Moral, yes. But morality need not be based on the reward of heaven and the threat of hell"

You can argue until the cows come home....there can never be consensus.

Footnote:
Think about it! Wars, conflicts, terrorism, ethnic cleansing (resulting in the lost of millions of precious lives) are largely the result of certain religious groups adopting a higher than thou stance!
How wonderful if we can have a Universal Religion where an omnipotent, all-knowing & all-forgiving Supernatural Power (SP)treats all and sundry, regardless of race, creed, skin colour, language, status and man-created beliefs, equally. This SP will certainly be the mother of all supernatural powers!

wow. God is imaginary? This Q & A will probably get messy down the line, but I'm not one to incite anger.

Rather, just take a look at wind: where does it come from? Can we think that cells and molecules are forming wind? A trillion little particles can cause the destruction of New Orleans? Ask any scientist where wind comes from. They can point to the location of where wind begins to pick up, (galapagos islands or something) but they don't understand how it got there.

The big band couldn't have done that. If you say it did, then fine. But lets say that last week I took a peice of paper and an ink well. Then I threw the ink on the paper and it formed a page of shakespear's poetry! I put it up on ebay for 50 $ titled "the instant-poet paper" but no one beleived me. Why? Because that's impossible. I couldn't have thrown the ink on paper and got poetry, or even legible words! Then how can people possibly think that the ENTIRE WORLD was created by such a bang?

I would like to end this by saying a famous quote:
"There are no athiests in foxholes."
(everyone in the world trade centers were praying to god... even though they were "athiest")

In life people drink from one of two fountains;fountain of pure water or fountain of poison. That site is the latter of the two ! You can't believe everything,*just because its on the Internet ,does not make it true. For scientific evidence you can read "the Creator and the Cosmos" by Hugh Ross, or go to his web-site its called 'creation evidence'

I think this site is crap.

Its designed to mislead people who don't really understand the scripture. Twisting the word of God.

Proof #18 - Imagine heaven

He brought up the argument that Jesus said, "sell everything" in order to inherit internal life. Jesus did not said for everyone on earth who follow him to sell everything. He said it to a wealthy man who idolze Money as his God. Jesus know what's in his heart and Jesus purposely challenged him to sell everything to prove to the man that he can only serve one God. Either God or Money. We can't serve 2 masters.

Nice try

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to take the time to read that entire site. I looked at one "proof" - #4, since I have some knowledge of science. He makes a false dichotomy there - he states that science must assume God is imaginary in order to proceed to look for "real" answers. This is, of course, nonsense. One can believe that God is real and still search for how the material universe works.

If that's an example of the rest of the site, I really don't see any need to "explain" it away. It's not worth the effort.

this is website of a person who has hardened his heart to God probably because hes mad at God for something like losing a loved one probably his Mom or dad, and he can not understand Gods purposes and is angry and that anger has stopped him from hearing the still small voice inside him telling him ,its okay, I love you and cant wait to bless you when you get rid of the pitty party and realize Gods ways are bigger than mans ways! Really to die is gain, because to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord! And if you wonder how I know its true, Because he has sent his HOLY SPIRIT TO LIVE IN ME, THE HOPE OF GLORY! thank YOU LORD, And it also finally explained these demons that have been BLOWING MY BUZZ MY WHOLE LIFE! NOT ANYMORE. Ephesians 6.10

It can't be explained away because God is imaginary.

The evidence & tests provided on that website are far more convincing than anything thumpers have to offer.
