Yes and no.
I believe that love, true love, takes time to grow. It has to withstand trials and fights, and experience the joys of life before it can be considered real. However, I do believe that you can know the potential for love at first sight...not just attraction...but that deep in your heart, you know that the other person might be your soulmate.
I met mine the day I was born. He was born a couple hours later, his crib was put next to mine, our parents bonded and discovered they lived minutes apart, and we've been attatched to the hip ever since. Growing up, we were always together at each others houses, always on the phone, never away from each other. We were homeschooled, and went to the same church...we were the BEST of friends. We had our weddings planned out when we were 11, he was going to be my man of honor, I was going to be his Best Woman, we were going to move into one of those duplex houses and if our spouses didn't like it, they weren't the ones for us. People told us all the time we were going to get married some day, and we would blush and deny it,saying we were JUST friends.
Not true ;-)
He admitted he had fallen in love with me at 13...I was overjoyed, because I had felt the same way for a long time.
I just KNEW that he was the one for me. He had been there for me through so much...I had poor health growing up...and since he was too young to visit me in the hospital, he'd cry and cry untill my parents finally brought him to see me,and told people he was my brother. When we were 9, he made a vow that he would take care of me forever, because I was his best friend and he wanted to grow old with me.
When I looked into his eyes, I could see myself reflected in them...thats how I knew I was in love. He was all the good in me.
He proposed to me in a love letter when we were 14 -I said yes, and we planned out our lives together. Kids, house, jobs...everything. At 16, he gave me a ring. A few weeks after we turned 18,he asked for my parents blessing, and we told everybody we were engaged and getting married.
I love him more then ever. We've been through hell and back...and we still care for each other. When he have aurguments, we hold hands, because we want the other to know that no matter what happens or how upset we get, we will never leave each other.

So yea, it's possible to know that a person is made for you at first sight. But love? That takes a little bit of effort.

Best wishes!

I believe in love at first sight, though I know for a fact that it is very rare. I've been searching for 17 years and still haven't found that "special someone." At the moment, I am in a great relationship, but that's because I've learned to take life one day at a time and not worry. Some say that it isn't true, but you have to think, what of siblings? Mothers and fathers? if there is no such thing as love at first sight, Then Children wouldn't take to their parents or siblings for a long time. You've also got to think of friends. That is also a form of love. You have to build up trust, but love is just kind of... there. There is no reason to have a dark outlook on life because of a few bad experiences. If you are having trouble in your life, It just means that it isn't your time yet.

No. But I believe in lust in first sight. It is very hard to tell the difference in the beginning, but you have to know someone to love them. It takes time.

Yes, it happened to me. Our eyes met. He approached me and we engaged in general conversation. After a few minutes we were totally into each other. Well, we did follow our feelings, fell more deeply in love and are happily married. That was eight years ago and it is still going strong. We still look into each others eyes and get the same feeling that we did when our eyes first met.
