I mean the ones at the end of the checkstand, if they don't take them to your car, they just bag them? If so, how much?

(I ask embarrasingly because I've never done it and my parent's didn't either, that I know of.)

I used to be a bagger. I was tipped two times in two years if I didnt carry them out, about 10 percent of the time if I did.
Most of the time cashiers make slightly more than baggers but not much. I dont tip baggers, and I dont think you need to either.
Especially if you are going based on what others do.

No. I've never even heard of tipping the cashier either. Tipping is for someone doing a 'service' for you, like a barber/beautician, waitress, etc. A taxi driver, but not the bus driver.
I've offered $ to the kids who take my groceries to the car for me but I think most places have a policy against tipping. At least where I live.

Most supermarkets here in Phoenix don't allow it. My father was military and the baggers on base worked for only tips, ask for the store policy.

Some establishments frown upon tipping baggers. You might want to ask at the customer service desk first. If you feel that it is proper to do so, go right ahead. If not, keep it in your pocket.

Only if they carried your bags out to the car and put them in the trunk for you. Even then, I'd only tip about $1.

No, they're already getting paid a normal wage and usually tipping isn't necessary unless they take your groceries to your car and even then some stores prohibit them from accepting tips.

Do they work only for tips or make a lower wage due to tips? If so yes, but just like a dollar if they don't carry them out to your car.

No...I don't tip the baggers at the grocery store. At Christmas/Thanksgiving, I'll give a tip, but that's about it.
