It just depends on the whole situation. You can choose to not choose, you can keep you love, and still spend time with your family. IF your family says that you have to break up with your partner or you are out of the family, they don't really care about your feelings that much. How could your family, the people that raised and supposedly love you and are supposedly always there for you make you choose between someone you want to spend your life with or them. That is a hard decision. But you need to think about it serioously. If you have a strong connection for your partner and want to spend you life with them. Then that may help you make your decision. Or tell your family that they can accept you partner or loose you forever. You have to seriously think on this one. Good luck.

what is your love? Is it a person or an art? In the case of a person u should evaluate if u know them enough to trust them with total support for your emotional and physical well being. Is your family composed of small children or are we talking about your parents hopes and wishes (or current disappoval) of your life? You want a question answered but what is the context? If your family dissaproves of artistry but you are an artist you have no choice, be who you are. If you are a child looking for permission you are already done it is over. Are you aperson who is wiiling to deal with with the full consequences of you desitions or is this just a STD infested walk-away-Joe as your family fears?

Choose your family. I chose my boyfriend over my family 3 years ago because I was totally in love. Things were going fine between us for 2 more years, and my family finally accepted him, and I was so excited. Then things fell apart, and I fell back on my family. It was terribly hard on my family, and it took them a long time to get over it, but they have and everything is fine now. You only have one family, you can never know for sure that you will only have that one love.

explain the situation a bit more.
If it's real love, the type that is strong and true, then chances are, that is the way to go. However, why are you being made to choose? Is your family against this relationship? Or is your signifigant other against your family?

Explain some more...

I think that in either situation is the answer is the same. Are you being asked to choose or are you choosing on your own. Either way YOUR FAMILY IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT.

if you have to think about this choice either this person isn't the right person or you are not yet ready to cut the apron strings.

what i did was to move out on my own to find my own identity. then i was able to make a clearer choice.

before you settle down make sure you are comfortable with both your family, their family and your spouse. know the lines beforehand. it will be a lot easier.

btw i am happily married for 19 years...

well, if you honestly think that this is "the love" then i would choose your love. i know it may be a hard decision but i know that i would definately choose my love if i knew that he was 'the one'. but, do what your heart tells you. Good Luck!

You should choose family, but you probably won't.
