I love Cockatoos but they are expensive and they need lots of attention. They are extremely affectionate and cuddly. I had several budgies and they are cheep and funny but they also need lots of attention is you want them to bond to you. They have quite the characters for such tiny things. With budgies you can always get too and they will bond to each other but it is a lot of fun to just have one. My one budgie was so funny. He lived on the cupboards in the kitchen and just went to his cage for food and too sleep. He would sit on my shoulder at dinner and try and get hand outs. He was so cute. When we went out we would put Elton John on because he really liked that or the dishwasher. He like the dishwasher for some reason.

How much bird experience do you have? It is best to start with a small bird...parakeet or cockatiel, you could also look at conures, which aren't very much bigger, but do have loud voices. They are easier to teach to talk. Do your research...read all you can about the birds you might get (including prices of the bird as well as the biggest cage they will need!). Birds can cost $20.00 or $12,000 - and that is NOT with the cage, toys or food! Remember you will have to have a special vet, who knows how to take care of birds. Look in your phone book - avian vet is what you'll need. If you do all these things, you WILL get the best bird for YOU and the bird! Good luck!

It depends on how much time, money, space, and patience you have. If you want something small go for a budgie, canary, parrotlett(although they are high matinance theyre cute!) or a finch, they are not that expensive(Max $35) If you would like a larger bird go for a lovebird,or a cockitiel. They are more matinence, require a bigger cadge, and the cost from $100 to $200(If you want a fancy on thats been hand tamed)

It depends on how much time you have for it. Are you home all the time or gone a lot. Some birds will pluck themselves and mourn themselves to death if left unattended too long. If you get a pair of birds this helps when it comes to loneliness. They also need toys to occupy their time.
Some are really loud, like lovebirds and conures. Will that annoy you. It depends on who you are as to what you will like best.
Most large parrots need lots of attention.

I think a cockatiel, parakeet, or lovebird would be the best starter pet for you.
Cockatiels are probably the easiest to enjoy. They are cute, friendly, easy to train, and they learn to talk and whistle very easily. They will actively seek you out for attention.
Parakeets are cheap and easy but they can be skittish and take time to tame. If you take the time to play with them every day they can be very friendly. They are not good talkers so there's no guarantee they will every learn to speak.
Lovebirds are alot of fun. They are very smart and have lots of personality. They like to squeek too. They don't talk or whistle though.

it all depends on you, how much time and how much you can afford to take care of them. the larger birds require lots of time and can be expensive to maintain. you have to watch their diets as they require more than just seed or pellets. i have 6 parrots , and spend maybe 500 dollars a month between toys , foods , treats, alot of things.

I like cockatiels. They are not too costly but also are smart enough to do some training and are fun and social to play with. We have had doves too...they are nice but they don't do too much. They eat their whole seeds though...which means less mess around the cage but bigger poo in the cage to clean up.
