i know there's no guarantees, but if you know a guy is capable of raising his hand to a female once, is that reason to look for someone else?

YES he is violent prone so DON'T' stay around for the second hit! No one has the right to hit another person under any circumstances .
Value your self more than to become some person's punching bag!
This person needs to undergo some anger management training.

What do you think? Guaranteed, if a man raises his hands once, he is an abuser. He will not be able to count how high he can hit you. Leave the bastard. Plus, i don't like the way you said capable. Not a good situation. Been there, done that.

Yes it is very definitely a reason to look for someone else. If he hits a girl once, its likely that he will hit a woman again.

Old habits die hard. Hitting starts with an intention, later it becomes a reflex action. Unless he goes through intensive therapy (not just counselling), he might be able to stop. Otherwise, I can guarantee he will hit again. Never stay in a relationship with an abusive man.

Yes he will raise his hand to a girl again! And yes it is a reason to look the other way and find a guy who treats girls with respect.

Statistics show that you know exactly what the score is -- if he hits you once, the odds are astronomical that he will hit you again, so the first hit should be the one that sets you walking. He'll promise never to do it again, and swear that he doesn't know what came over him, but when push comes to shove, hitting is what he does and you don't need any part of that kind of a relationship.
Good for you for having such a level head on your shoulders.

If a guy hits a girl once, he will always hit again. It doesn't matter how many times he tells you and promises you it will never happen again. It will. Once a hitter always a hitter. Get out now. You don't deserve that. You deserve so much better, and can have so much more.

In my experience, the answer is yes. It may take a long time, long enough for you to think it won't happen again, but he probably will unless he has sought professional help. And once he hits a woman, the kids are not far behind.

I think so growing up in abusive family i saw a lot of things that a kid shouldn't see at an early age. but a guy shouldn't have any reason to raise his hand to a female .

Of course its a reason to look for someone else. He didnt respect you enough that he hit you.. he did it once and I'm sure he'd do it again. You deserve someone better, someone who loves you and respects you enough to not hit you. Good Luck
