I know that eating poppy seeds will cause you to show positive for opiates if you take a drug test. Well being the dumb person I am wasnt thinking about ate some lemon poppy seed muffins while ago and well I'm on probation. How long will it take for this to not show up as a positve that she'll be able to fail me for. This is fustrating becuase I've been drug free for over 9 months now and I'm afried that the one day I mess up and eat a stupid muffin will be the day she wants to show up to test me. Please only answer is you have experience with this and arent just guessing. I need real answers and not just smart a** people that want points.

It stays in your system a day or two, depending on how much you ate. But if you eat them every day, it will build up and stay in your system for longer after you stop eating them.

I saw the episode of myth busters when they ate the poppy seed muffins and i think they did the drug test for over a week and a half and they were still coming up dirty. If you are worried about a test then go visit you local water-pipe store because they carry lines of detox products that do work. Good luck

I have no idea as every person's body is different. But, if you're on probation, maybe you should call whoever you report in to and explain the situation. That way, if you're tested, it doesn't look like you're fishing for a story.

Oh Boy..you just dug your own hole..But i could be wrong. I know poppy seeds are organic and like marijuana, traces of it tend to stay on your body. Its not like when you take speed and you drink lots of milk and it wont show. Maybe you can call your probation officer and just tell her/him the truth. Maybe you can show the receipt of the purchase:)
