Why is being homosexual so wrong in Christianity?

I know this question is asked often but I just want to know, why is being homosexual so wrong in Christianty? A homosexual can't help being attracted to the opposite sex. There is no way to "correct" that because it is going against their feelings. I could never imagine living life not being able to be true to myself and who I am attracted to or love.
Did God say that a "man shall not lie with another man" to prevent STDs or AIDS? Help...

Okay, there is proof that God does not like it. But what if the person is just not into the opposite sex? Are they doomed to be forced to pretend that their straight of else they or face going to hell? I just feel so bad...

I think it is convenient for them to say it is a sin for a man to love another man and a woman to love another woman when preachers are going out and having sex with kids and having sex with other people besides their wives. That is all forgiven and ok with Christians because humans make mistakes. But if you are a homosexual you are evil and nasty. You will burn in Hell forever. God will never forgive you for that. Another reason why I left Christianity. I am not a homosexual but the way they can treat good people is horrible. They say that people aren't born homosexual but that is a lie. They say animals aren't that way but that is a lie too. I have seen female cows trying to hump other female cows. I have seen female dogs hump female dogs. I have seen male dogs hump male dogs. I have seen all kinds of homosexual behaviors in animals. I used to live in farm country and I used to work in a vets office. Animals can be homosexual too. As humans are animals after all, humans can be homosexuals too. You all say that animals are born without sin and yet they have homosexual behaviors so that means that your God created sinful animals or that homosexual behaviors are not really sinful. Would you God create something he knew would never have a chance to make it to Heaven. He made man but he gave man a chance. If an animal is homosexual that means it doesn't have a chance because you can't preach Jesus to animals.

If homosexuality were part of God Almighty's plan, that it was in the plan of God Almighty, you may have never been born because many in your family wanted to be gay in the past. Yet they married and did the will of God Almighty. So it is true, for the sake of humanity the plan was written for a man and women to mate.
If someone decides to accept being gay, then they are choosing not to do the will of God Almighty. This is an important part of the plan, for children to be born. If it was not so you would not exsist. A person born is one more person closer to being ready for God Almighty. This is hard to understand because you are human, but the power and principals understand it well. For they are the power and principals and they are designed to work one way.
So when something happens and it is not in the plan of God Almighty, then it is not in His will. This causes many problems that you as a human do not see, but you will feel it eventually. For the powers and principals work only one way, and if they try and work the other way, they will self destruct and that is something that happens to many people.
Sure it looks like some people that are not living the plan of God Almighty are living just fine, but in time the picture will change, even if it is a generation from now. So if you accept being gay, and do not try to change, then the powers and princapals will learn the wrong way. How is it that they could ever do the will of God Almighty if they are taught something against His plan.
I do not mean to say that people train and design a power or princapal because only God Almighty has that ability, but I do say that you as a person do have an influence on them. after all they have been here scince the begginning of time. So in order to make all this come together, we as people need to follow the plan that we was designed to learn and do, over and over again until the day comes when God Almighty says it is through. For that day is very soon now, and as many as you think will be saved through the Grace of God Almighty through the blood of Jesus Christ, they still must understand what the plan was and why it happened that they fell away. If they do not, then how can they change.
it is not in the plan to be a homosexual, it is in the plan to be hetrosexual. Do you understand that? If you do it is a start, and with a start you can do anything with the help of Jesus Christ.

aids did not exist in biblical times. hiv is not a gay disease. it was prominent in the gay communities because of multiple partner sex in the united states to begin with, but i simultaneously showed up in hetersexual haitian relationships in florida. if you look at it today, the rates are much higher in the heterosexual communities. if ronald reagan would have recognized that fact that it wasn't just a gay disease and had taken appropriate measures to stop it, it wouldn't have spread like it did.

the word homosexuality never existed in the bible until the 20th century. people often quote old testament with the soddam and gamorrah where it was actually the rape of men that was sinful and
we all know rape is wrong. the rule for men not lying with men was to protect any potential heterosexual male from being penetrated. the eunuchs (which doesn't always mean castration) were considered female because they took that role. jesus says some eunuchs are born that way, some are made that way by men, and some become eunuchs for the sake of heaven. when priests began becoming eunuchs for the sake of heaven they still wanted to be considered male, and so then the rules of no man on man sex were opened up to the eunuchs who were once considered female.

rest assured you are well loved by god and he seeks not to change the person that you are. orthodox veiws always dominate in order to control populations, so don't believe what the masses are preaching. there are some fractions of christianity that don't condemn homosexuality. the episcopal church is one of them.

It is not just homosexuality that is wrong. It is all forms of sexual perversions. These can be heterosexual as well. The reason is because when we hold onto our sin we are putting it before God. God is then secondary at best. We need to put him first.

You said that they could not help it. Apparentl you think people are born gay. That is false. Consider the thousands of Ex-Gays. Homosexual activist don't like to talk about them. Becaus eit disproves their contention that they were born gay and that homosexuals therefore have no choice. You see if they were born heterosexual then they were just indulging in bad behavior while they chose to live as homosexuals. If they were born homosexual but now live as heterosexuals, then it must be possible for them to change.
Fact is, almost all if not 100%, of homosexuals had a problem with at least 1 of their parents. This causes a disruption in the development of their sexual identity. Sometimes this leads to homosexuality other times it may lead to problems in marriage or relationships. At any rate, it can begin very young. This causes the child to feel inadequate as a male or female. Whichever they are. They then look back and think they were always homosexual.
Consider the damage that the "born gay" propaganda is doing to young lives right now. How many kids feel weird during their teen years. The pop culture tells them that if they don't fit in, it might be because they were "born gay". Talk about setting our youths up for harm. Any reasonable person can see that many of them will engage in homosexuality at the very least in an experimental way.

Not only in Christianity is homosexuality a sin but even in Judaism and Islam.

Yes, God, according to the bible did say that it is forbidden for a man to lay with another man as though the man was a woman for that is perversion.

God created Adam and Eve. He didn't create "Adam and Steve" or "Madam and Eve".

You're not being true to yourself because you're denying your genetics. If your genetics contain the Y chromosome then you're a man, if your genes contain all X chromosomes then your a woman. You weren't created a hermaphrodite.

That shoots down the gay theory about being born gay.

As for the STDs and AIDS, promiscuity causes the spread of these, abominable homosexual practices compound these problems even more.

No offense meant, just answering your question. Do whatever you want. You can listen to this answer or totally ignore it. Doesn't matter to me.

The main reason that Christians believe homosexuality to be wrong is that they believe that sex was created strictly for procreation. Therefore: a man with a man or a woman with a woman is wrong - they cannot create new life that way.

another reason is that people - all people - take what they want from what they read. be it the bible, a novel, a poem. and if it said somewhere in the bible that a man shall not lay down with another man then they take that to mean homosexuality is wrong.

Having said that: the bible also demands that we stone to death our neighbors for committing sins and beat our children to make them behave (spare the rod, spoil the child)

This is all of course just my opinion.

If you are christian - then yes u will probably go to hell for being gay IF you believe strongly enough in the religion you chose to believe in. Why not try and find a belief system that suits who YOU are?? and not try to fit yourself into a belief system that makes you feel bad about yourself?.. There are many many belief systems that are based on feeling good about yourself. why not choose one of those instead of one that thrives on whats "wrong" with you?

As you have noted, God lined it out already. If you admit that the Bible is "scripture" you have set a precident that what is in it is truth.

Since the Bible says that it's a sin, then it's a sin. But don't stop there. Every sin is condemned. So, anyone who thinks that they can judge homosex as being a worse sin had better watch that they are not judged with the same measure.

It is treated worse because it has been fed to congregations over the years that it's the worst one.

But my Bible tells me that they are all deserving of death, that means you, and that means me. So what now? Trust God. It's that simple. You have to keep your eyes on Jesus. The Holy Spirit begins to dwell in you, and the Holy Spirit does the changing according to the will of God.

And that's the way it is.

From a Christian attitude, the Bible (on the whole the OT) says that guy-guy gay intercourse is "detestable" to God. Well, even though they are that way, they can fight those feelings, they just choose not to. It's nothing but the devil, unfortunately. Even though they are gay, they shouldn't go have sex with their own sex. Everyone has to suffer to learn, and that applies for gays, too. They just have to suffer without sex. It's like this...

If you have kids, you know what I'm talking about. You raise your kids, you tell them not to do certain things. They're so great and innocent at first, and everything is great. Then they start taking to their surroundings, learning from the world around them, and forgetting what their parents taught them. They start to rebel, and do a lot of crazy things, not even trying to get help, or remember who brought them on this earth, they deny them, tell the parents they don't love them, and deny everything that was taught to them. Sad, huh? That's how God feels about everything that's going on down here. He's like our father, and people are rebelling by having sex with the wrong people, murdering, raping, etc.

It's a shame, but it's called self control, and everyone has to have a certain level of it to live. Don't think Christians hate people who are gay, because I sure don't... Heck, I have gay friends of my own. I don't have to agree with what they do, but I love em anyway. I just hope that everyone else could be that way. Hope this helps ya!

Think about it, 90% of stuff in the bible is there for health reasons. When Christianity started out, it was a small bunch, they wanted them to go out, marry and have lots of christian babies. Can't do that if your gay.
I also think they were trying to prevent STD's and what not. But that's just my outlook from taking History class.
