The sleeve is the smallest member of the Pekingese family, and the most popular size during the breeds development in China. To be a sleeve it must be 6 lbs or under, anything over that is not a sleeve
The sleeve pekingese should have heavy bone for its size, a proportionately large head, and an Oriental expression. But everything should be scaled to the dog as a whole for that all-important balance. Sleeves usually carry heavy fringes, and good body coat.
They have proved to be rigorous, and are not lacking in stamina. They have been shown and have won in all weather
The first Pekingese club was formed in the USA on September 13, 1935, called "Pekingese Sleeve Dog Association Of America", and they held an Annual Specialty .
The English Kennel Club recognized the "Sleeve Pekingese Club of Great Britain" in 1971 holding their first annual show and getting an entry of 179 sleeve pekes. The judge was Mrs. Betty M.A. Shoemaker
One of the most popular sleeve pekingese to be shown in the 1930's was "Ch. Humming Bee of Alderbourne" and at this time an unbelievable price of $15,000.00 was offered to buy this peke and was refused.
Now a days sleeve prices average between $1,000.00 to $3,000.00. Sleeve females are only sold as spayed pets. It is too dangerous for them to deliver a litter as the litter can consist of normal size fetuses. Male sleeves are very popular and can be used for stud in anyone's kennel to cut down in the size of offspring it can produce with regular sized females.
There is NO TRUTH to the saying, "sleeves are sickly and have a lot of genetic faults.
You cannot breed strictly for the sleeve size, they just "happen". Some bloodlines produce sleeves quite regular, and we at "Palaceoutlaw" carry a bloodline, "Samaifun", that has produced many sleeves for us, unfortunately I no longer carry the bloodline that produced the sleeves. Unfortunately I do not have pictures of all of them , but here are 2 sleeves that I do have pics of.
Most Pekes are the cutest little furry "THIEVES!" They especially love to steal items that contain their owners scent, such as, shoes, socks, undies, slippers etc. If your Peke fits into the role of thief, please keep your laundry in a closed hamper, or out of reach of your pet. Place shoes up out of his reach, on a shelf, or in and area where he cannot get to them. Although it may seem cute at the time it can be very embarrassing, when a piece of your laundry arrives in the center of your visitors. Provide lots of toys for your peke to play with instead, and save the embarrassment.

Per se, yes. Sleeve Pekingese were in ancient China. . the Pekes would sit in the sleeves of royalty, thus their name. They are rather small with underdeveloped reproductive systems and, IMO, must never be bred. However, a show quality can birth from them. . . but it is rare and usually has only one or two in the litter. AKC standard is under 14lbs so you should be safe. . . but remember that most faults are felt. . and don't call it a sleeve Pekingese. . .it's about as silly as a teacup Pomeranian. . . a Pekingese is a Pekingese.

There are actually 3 types of Peke...
1. Show quality - standard peke, meets all physical requirements.
2. Pet quality - typically a sub-standard, usually larger body and eyes with more health issues, cannot be registered or shown.
3. Sleeve - in ancient China, these pekes would sit in the sleeves of royalty thus their name. They are very tiny with underdeveloped reproductive systems and must never be bred.
A show quality can birth any of the 3 types of peke and usually has only one or two in the litter.

To me it just sounds like another word for "teacup". I have never heard of a "sleeve" Pekingese. Sounds like the "sleeves" are just the runts.

It's all just a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a person with short hair over a man with long hair because long curly hair tends to make guys look also girly.

I would go to the American Kennel Club and look at a list of accepted breeds. I am assuming you are in America.
