I think they doubt that they will be able to live up to what He will ask of them. Even Moses tried to get out of it, he was sure he would not be able to perform what God asked. But of course.....whom God calls, He enables.

Jonah was an interesting example. He ran so far, God even put him into the belly of a great fish for a few days!

They're afraid of what they think he may have them to do... like leave the comfort of their home and travel to a distant remote land to spread the Good News to people who would just as soon chop them up and cook them... and I'm not being funny. But God is imaginary so he really doesn't call people. They want to feel significant in the church so they say God called them to a particular ministry but then they realize how much work it will be to pull off and they change their minds. Some people are pressured in to ministries by a pastor, committee, or spouse and reluctantly accept the responsibility until again they realize the effort needed to pull it off and they change their minds.

Why not? To a God that never show Himself to public but It is easy for Him? But He lets people in such debate about which religions and sects are His. People killed each other in the name of Him but He never show off and stopped it. He just let some human with His Book that could not be trusted by the others. He must know the characteristics of Humans "seeing is believing"

No one runs from God's calling. That come from weird Christian theology that people hate God because they want to be God themselves. For anyone that's not Christian, this has nothing to do with them.

Because they are fearful.

They fear accountability, commitment, responsibility, conforming their life to Christ, letting go of their petty wants, desires, opinions, and judgments ... basically, because they are as little children.

And yet many will accuse Christians of being childish. Little do they know the awesome onus put in one's charge when one answers God's call.

Are you telling me you hear voices????
MAN
I guess you have to believe in god in the first place... Belief is good.. but to let this belief actually allow you to hallucinate.. that is seriously mad.
Look at the Terrorists.. They are doing god's work.. don't you see there is a bit of a problem about listening to gods calling??

The main reason is that they do know the joy and the benefits of sufferings. to be with jesus you need to have the perfection in sufferings of jesus as well. so naturally people take a back seat.
