latinos are a great opportunity for all americans to become bilingual why not take this opportunity ???
america is the only first world country in which most people speak just one language , is time to change this bad attitude .
america could today speak so many laguages since it is soly founded on immigrants yet most forgot their original language , america should not make the same mistake once again .
is time for change

As of 2006, 49% of all children under the age of 5 in the U.S. are of Hispanic descent. By 2016, well over 50% of the population under the age of 15 will be of Hispanic descent in the U.S. It seems like it would be a good idea to learn Spanish ... fluently. This country is becoming more Latin and will continue to do so over the years to come. There is no stopping it. Even if we stopped immigration today, the fact is that the average Latino has more than 2 children whereas the average non-Latino has fewer than 2 children. Have fun with your Spanish lessons. I wish I had time to learn myself.

Wow. we're pretty self centered, aren't we? Spanish is the second most important language in the world? Says who? What is the first most important? Why do you think this? If i had to pick a second most important language, I would have to pick Chinese, they are a fast developing country becoming so industrialize at a very blinding rate. What is your argument that the U.S is a one language country. Everywhere around the U.S people speak English, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, French, Spanish, German as well as many, many others and I haven't even mentioned all of the different languages and dialect of the Native American.Open your mind and see more than just what you want to see
I beg to differ, the Chinese language does exist and I do believeI spelled it correctly

1. I speak Spanish
2. Out of all the languages in the world, why must America learn Spanish? Why stop at bilingual?
3. America wasn't founded solely by immigrants. And if you do forget the Natives, then All of North, Central and South America is founded by immigrants.
4. Most of the Easternmost Region of the States was English first. The North was French (won by the English in war and trade). The West and South and Southeast was Spanish (won by war and trade). The main language has been English for over 2 centuries. Most have not forgotten their original language.
5. If we do fight for an 'original' language. I think we should learn Native American languages. They are in more danger of extinction than Spanish will ever be.

I'm learning German and sign language. There's nothing wrong with learning languages. But why should Americans just learn Spanish?
If would be nice if all people living in the USA knew English. Wouldn't it be great to have a common language where we could all communicate with each other?

Why don't the Mexicans learn Shoshone, Cherokee, Algonquin, Shawnee, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Cree, Seminole, Eskimo-Aleut?
I have no need nor any desire to learn Spanish. I work with them, but they know English. I don't associate with any outside of work. I know some Cherokee but I didn't live around it being spoken so I am not fluent in it. If I lived around it being spoken I could learn it and would love to do so. I live in the USA. We speak English, period.
If you want to speak all the Native American tongues of the USA, you better be prepared to learn plenty..see sources...↓↓↓↓↓↓

I already know Spanish. It was easy to me but I don't think anyone should have to cater to Mexicans here. The very least that they could do since they are hell bent on destroying America's sovereignty is to speak the language of this country. I am sick and tired of our government and our sell out employers accommodating criminal Mexicans. If they don't want to learn English, they should leave. JD has a great answer for you too.
