The cat just has to get used to it because it is a new object in their environment. It helps if you can get the cat's scent on the bed so that it will smell more familiar to them. You can try putting a treat in the bed so that the cat will go in and get a feel of how comfortable the bed is. Also, some cats prefer privacy; my cat will only use her bed if I put it in in a location where she can curl up and sleep without disturbances. Try someplace warm or tucked out of the way. I hope this helps!

How ironic cats are...you buy them a bed and they won't use it, yet you put an old cardboard box in the corner and they practically live in it. Get used to it, that's just the way they are. Not all cats are like that, but I'd say a good majority of them are. Some cats like to sleep stretched out and wouldn't have the room in a bed...or they like to lay on places you don't want them to lay...that's their motto....they do their own thing and you can't really make them do it. They are way too independent and stubborn sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love cats, but the best things for your pets are cheap, inexpensive items such as milk rings, laser lights and anything you didn't spend a fortune or a lot of time buying them..because in the long run, they will enjoy a piece of garbage to play with and your kitchen table to sleep on before they'll play with the costly toys and beds you buy them!
Cat nip probably would only be temporary, and the only reason they would be in it would be to roll around and drool all over it, once it lost it's potency, it would probably not choose that as an area to sleep in.

Because she is a cat. Because she liked her old bed just fine. Why did you get her a new bed? Did you see it in the pet store and think it looked cute? Or are you trying to get her to stop sleeping in someplace, like your bed.
If you bought the bed because it was cute and the cat does not share your opinion, you may just be out of luck. After all if she was not complaining about sleeping arrangements you can't blame her.
If she was sleeping on your bed and you want her off, don't put the new bed on the floor. Put it on top of a table so it is about the height of the old bed. Maybe the floor is drafty.

Favorite Sleeping places
Cats look for a sleeping place that feels safe and has the right temperature. During hot summer days, they will look for high shaded sleeping nooks. In the winter, most cats will look for a spot of warm sunshine or a nearby heater. The temperature also effects the cat's sleeping position. When cold, cats tend to curl and put their face between their paws to reduce body heat loss.
You can make a nice soft bed especially for your cat, or buy one of the many plush cat beds available in the shops. Still, many felines prefer one specific bed in the house - ours! For the cat, our bed is soaked with comforting and secure scents and is often the ideal sleeping place. Sharing your bed with one or more cats can help strengthen the special human-feline bond, not to mention the cat's role as a furry, purring hot bottle…
Although your cat will love to have a special bed, you can't force to sleep on the same place for years. Change is part of their instinct.

Oddly, my cat never sleeps on anything new that we buy him. He is always sleeping on my dogs bed. I think this is his way of being superior or maybe he just likes the smell of my dog. I would try putting a treat on the bed, but don't keep picking up the cat and putting him on it, this could stress her out and cause her to see the bed as something negative. When you see the cat on the bed or sniffing around it give him/her treats or just pet it so she recognizes it as a good place to be. If it is new, it could have that store/ rubber type smell to it, so you could try putting a blanket or something with a normal scent to it on top of the bed until it takes on your house smell.

Put something in the bed, like a toy she likes and some cat nip too. Cat's can be particular about scents on things, so give her time.

Where does she usually sleep? Try placing the bed on top of her favorite sleeping spot or location. Maybe that will help.

Try putting it where she normally sleeps. Also try some catnip spray, or some treats in the bed. Good Luck

Your bed might be more comfortable? My cats love to sleep on my sons bed.
Keep putting her/him in it so it can get 'her/his scent' on it. The current smell might be unappealing.
