There's this ring I really want and it just happens to have both of our birthstones on it. How do I get him to buy it for me without me coming right out and asking him for it (Read: I want him to think it was his idea)? I saw it in an Avon campaign book. Note: he's not very good with subtle hints. What can I do?

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound "needy". I would have no problem buying it myself; I just thought it would mean that much more coming from him. And he probably would if he saw it and knew that I liked it, but, like someone already said, what guy is going to read the Avon book?

I want my guy to buy me a gift because he wanted to not because I tricked or talked him into it. It just doesn't mean as much to me if I I have to lure him into it. I pesonally would tell him that I was thinking about buying this ring that I really liked because it had both of our birthstones in it. Maybe he'll offer to buy it or pay for for part of it. Guys usually don't like to buy rings because it would mean even more commitment and ring seem to go with marriage and may cause pressure that you weren't intending. good luck

Call your Avon rep and ask her to notify this guy. Tell her to let him know that you really had your eye on it, and it's not too early to start thinking about Christmas gifts.
You could also casually point out to him that it caught your eye because it had both of your birthstones on it. Then say something like, "if I had that ring, I'd wear it all the time, so everyone knew I was taken by the love of my life."
Unfortunately, subtle hints don't work with most guys. They just don't get it. If these two ideas don't work, then you may have no choice but to come right out and ask him. Good luck!

Men are very bad in taking hints or when you beat around the bush. You can show him the ring and tell him that you really like it, because it has his and your birthstone in it and you would love to have it. If he doesn't get it, tell him you WANT it really badly. If he still doesn't get, you have to buy it for yourself. Avon is not that expansive anyway.

Im not sure, maybe just mention it and just be like "awww it has both of our birthstones, we should get it, jk "...of course its more like he should get it, really dont make him buy it, i mean yeah its nice and all, but still. I mean if you want it, get it yourself or something, I just see it kind of cruel that some girls take advantage of guys. Guys go with the flow and just buy them what they want. Thats not right...
Shouldnt it be like half and half depending on the cost and of course the thing? Of course if you would mention to pay half he would probably say he would pay the whole thing? Yeah i guess.

tell him you would really like a nice piece of jewelry to wear for him and if he says yes and shows you the catalog then maybe you could hint at it and ask it in such a way that he would choose that...like "wow this has our birthstones on it, in your judgment sir, would this be appropriate for us?" Yes, guys should buy things for their girlfriends but girls need to do things like clean up their rooms and cook dinner to reciprocate.

Ok
1) Circle the item in red or black marker.
2) Show the page to bf, cooing "Ooooo! Look at this RING! It's PERFECT! I LOVE it! And it's so reasonably priced..."
3) Repeat the next day. But do "Did I show you this ring?" instead.
4) Repeat next week.

tell him you'd like it if someone would buy it for you...there's no reason a man would look at an Avon book

About the only thing you can do is to tell him how much you like it and tell him that you wish someone would buy it for you. If he doesn't pick up on it, you'll just have to buy it for yourself.

If he's not the jewelry buying type of guy, then it's not gonna happen. Quick and easy solution - just buy it yourself.
