Start living by the day- tell yourself everyday, “today I’m eating healthily because I need to feel and look good tomorrow”. If you've succeed ‘the day’, you should be proud of yourself. Perhaps the reason why you can't stop eating is, whenever you are feeling down, you'll binge eating to comfort the moment and that you didn’t care about the long-term effects (sometimes, you don’t even like the food but you just can’t seems to stop stuffing the food inside your mouth). Without realizing, a month has passed and you’ll be 5 pounds heavier. Then, you’ll feel down due to the fact that your weight has increased and don't look good in anything you wear-- thus the cycle repeats. You find food for comfort again.

However, if you were to live by 'the day', it is easier to achieve 'the goal'- since it’s a short-term goal. You should be proud when you’ve achieved that goal. It’s not easy, but it’s not difficult either. If you follow this method, you’ll eventually form a healthy-eating habit, and when a month has passed by, you’ll find yourself weighing 5 or more pounds lighter. The first month could be difficult, but as always, no pain no gain.

There’s nothing wrong with you. You just happened to have formed a bad-eating habit. Always remember, don’t give up! Whatever junk you eat today, will stay in your body for a long time- so START SOON!

If you don’t love your body, no one will.

Oh! Don’t forget to exercise!

I had that exact same problem. I agonized over it for years and years, then I decided to do something about it. If I felt the need to eat, I'd make myself wait a half hour. In that half hour, I'd occupy my time by doing some sort of exercise. If, after that, I still felt hungry, I'd allow myself to eat. Most of the time, I was feeling good about myself for having just exercised, so I no longer felt I needed that snack or whatever. After awhile, I started wanting to get out and exercise more than I wanted food.

Just be careful though, if you have an addictive nature, you could be trading in a food addiction for an exercise one.

It's a compulsion and when you are overeating, the last thing on your mind is the weight you are going to gain. If you are grossly overweight, maybe it's time to see a doctor for a diet and exercise plan. Or try Jennie Craig, Weight Watcher's etc. My mother-in-law had great success with TOPS (take off pounds sensibly). She reached her goal and has kept the weight off for over 40 years. Look into those programs and good luck to you.

You're bored, bored, bored ,bored ,bored. Join a club so you can make some new friends. The more active you are the less you eat; otherwise get a second job, that'll keep you busy and away from food.

They have the best resources to help you. Good Luck!

Your need bariatric (weight loss) surgery such as stapling or lap banding. Almost guaranteed to work. Better track record than pills, diets, etc., and the procedures are getting safer and simpler all the time. Forces you to limit portions, lest you barf, barf, barf! Find something to do. Most people tend to eat when bored and that leads to overeating
