If I were to murder someone (not saying that I will), then repent maybe a year later, would baby jesus still forgive me and let me into heaven? Also considering that the repentance comes from the heart. I know God forgives sins, but does He really forgive all of them??

Thanks everyone except JOHNBNTEXAS (you're an idiot). If you didn't care, why did you answer my question that was directed to the lovely Christians or Catholics or whatever religion that loves baby Jesus. Baby Jesus rocks! I just saw that movie with Will Ferrell, Talladega Nights. funny stuff but not as funny as Old School.
To be honest with you all, I have been contemplating on doing it, but I've changed my mind now cuz I probably won't be sorry about it later. And I really don't want to burn in hell either. So I'll just forget about it. Thanks everyone! You all got rid of my urge to kill. Give yourselves a pat on the back. =)

Who else thinks Earl D is a little pissed about something in his life? What a raving lunatic. I really dislike how he just jumped to a conclusion. What he had to say was totally irrelavent and distorted. I'll just stay out of the 'religion & spirituality' section for a while. Thats why I don't go to church, cuz angry "christians" like Earl D makes my baby Jesus look bad.

If you are truly sorry for your actions and confess them to a priest. then yes, you will be pardoned. This of course includes a penance and does not apply to human laws, in order words you'll still go to jail. God is able to forgive any sin as long as you're truly sorry for them, sins that you are not sorry for will get you in hell however.
Also a side note on the earlier answer which commented on the fact that 200 years ago this would have been considered heresy I must say I am amazed on your natural ability of using facts to make religious organizations look incoherently evil. While you are right about the Christian theology employed 200 years ago it is not true this theology was employed the first 90% of the church's history. As a matter of fact most of those strict theologies originated in Rome when it converted to Catholicism and were used mostly as a way to destroy competing religions (paganism, sun worshipping, agnosticism, etc). This theologies were adopted by Constantine who converted Rome to christianism 400 years after Jesus' death (20% of the church's age). So this were not the original teachings of Jesus Christ but merely a political tactic used by the church to survive its enemies during ruthless times (after all, who wouldn't want to join a church that claims to be the only way to salvation). I'm not saying the Catholic church is wrong or a lie, I'm just saying that the theologies you described were perhaps not correct. Hence the church's latest attitude change, it is an attempt to correct historical wrong-doing in the christian theology.

It depends on the motives of your heart. You have to be really sorry that you did what you did, but based on the way you asked the question you would only repent because you believed that your sin was forgiven. The very thought of murdering someone is a sin, remember once you entertain the thought of something it is the same as actually committing the act, you have conspired, and the fact that you have taken it to the point of asking for advice or an answer, speaks volumes. Repentance means to turn away from and never go back to that again. Murder is no different than a lie. Both kill. It is no different than fornication or adultery, both of these can kill. When you even consider murder you have entered into the devils kingdom, because it is the devil that comes to kill steal and destroy. So now the question becomes, are you Christian, if you conspire to kill someone?

The Bible keeps talking about how Jesus knew their thoughts. So if you murdered a person and you really were repentant, and not just saying I'm sorry to avoid punishment, but really truly sorry for what you did, then yes God would forgive you, through his grace.
But if you are onl saying that to get out of a punishment, then no. Because he sees the heart and the intent of the heart.
That's why we cannot judge this question, because only you and God know your real thoughts on this.

Boy, all the "Christians" here say we can all sin, so lets go out and have an orgy, let's forget the Bible, let's not read it anymore least we run into terms like Fornicator and say, gee was all the ORgy stuff wrong!
Once forgiven always forgiven. I guess all the KKK guys love that idea! Hitler too.
I guess MEthodist Bush is definately going to heaven, even after all this IRaq stuff!
LEt me get this straight, I accept Jesus and then I am saved forever and can rob, steal, commit adutery (those 10 commands don't mean anything anymore because Jesus gives you a Get out of Jail card!), rape, have all sorts of sex even kinky sex,
I guess Homosexual finally have their answer, believe in Jesus and you are saved!
That's how simple it is boys and girls.
Why go to Church anymore. YOu beleive in Jesus. YOu said you. YOu said it publically, so don't read the bible anymore, because there is NOTHING of morals in there, because you don't need morals, you have JEsus and JEsus Saves
So, we don't need the Bible
We don't need Churchs.
We just need Jesus and then we can ALL GO OUT and do what we want for Praise God, we are SAVED!
Why would anyone NOT want to be a Christian. YOu can do all the really NASTTY PAGAN things you want and you're home free.
No church required after you make your pledge.
No Bible reading, because all you learn about in the bible is how Bad PEople go to the burning lake of fire, but YOU ARE SAVED, so why bother reading all that morbid stuff.
Go out, get a girl, get a bottle, get some pot, get a gun, go rob a bank, go kill a few people for YOU ARE SAVED!
Now you have your answer from all the Christians here at Yahoo, go get the gun or the knife and do it! You are home free. Jesus loves you no matter what you do, have done or will do!
The Christians here have provided the answer once again!
To bad I don't beleive in it.
Get a divorce for any reason other than adultery. Comit murder, rape, have casual sex I don't care if you are Billy Graham, you are going into the lake of fire your NAME will NOT be in the book of life!
YOu have the mark of the BEAST on you and even JEsus can't erase that! And every Christian here that CONDONES MURDER share in that fate.
Let go abort some fetus, let go pull some electric chair switches, lets take our swords and like Good Christian Solider invaide the middle East and Take JErsusalem back for US!
We're all save. We can do it!
Forget that JEsus once said he who lives by the gun dies by the gun.
Everyone here take note, under US law EVERYONE HERE who says this girl is SAVED and FORGIVEN IN ADVANCE for contemplaing MURDER is an accessory before the fact and that is a felony and your IP numbers are registered with YAHOO who turns over info to the goverment.
You are advocating it's OK to murder. I don't care if I get suspended for this, it's a sick sorry lot of people who think its COOL to be a murderer.

If you commit the crime with the intention of seeking forgiveness for the sin of murder at a later date you better think twice.
Committing the crime knowing it is a sin and expecting to get it wiped clean later is actually committing the greater sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Which is in essence denying Jesus Christ. And that would be committed by committing the sin of murder with the idea that you will request forgiveness later.
You would have to think God a fool not to weigh the matters of the heart.

Honey, you should start repenting now. It is written that if you think about committing a sin, in God's eyes, you have already done it.
We are brought up to believe that God forgives all, however, keep in mind, that on judgement day, you are going to have to reflect upon your sins. Just because you've repented and asked for forgiveness, doesn't mean in your heart of hearts that you regret doing what you did. God knows this.

200 years ago, according to Christian theology: no. Only those that God elects for salvation would be saved and get into Heaven. But because of the changes in Christian theology recently, then you probably could. Now it seems in many Christian Churches that as long as you repent before you die and love the Baby Jesus, then you'll get into heaven. This is not at how Christians thought before, during the first 90% of Christian history this idea would be heresy.

The worst sinner can be forgiven anything, if that person truly repents of their sin and calls on the name of Jesus Christ to be saved.
And He was born a baby...but is no longer. He will return as the Lion of Judah.
God says when He forgives us...He puts our sins as far away as the East is from the West, and remembers them no more.

First, the sin you are talking about is a deliberate one, not the one which happens by mistake. For these sorts of voluntary in, Jesus' ransome sacrifice is not available.
Secondly, Jesus is no more a Baby; he along with his Father can see your heart condition and read your intentions. So do not even think of it. For the Bible clearly says at Romans 12:19 "Vengeance belongs to God". If someone has sinned against you, if at all possible, forgive, if not, please leave vengeance to God.

If you accept Jesus' Atoning sacrifice on the Cross, and repent, yes, He will let you into Heaven. There is no sin a believer can commit that would exclude you from Heaven.
I just want to make a comment to "Dukaling6000". There is no reference to purgatory in the Bible. The concept of purgatory was developed by the Babylonian Pagan religion, and adopted by the Catholic Church.
The Apostle Paul, talking to believers, said "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".
When the thief repent to Christ on the Cross, Jesus said to him "Today, you will be with me in Paradise". He didn't say, nice start, I'll see you after you spend time in purgatory.
Everything in the Bible points to the fact that your last breath here is followed by your first breath in Heaven. If you have any Bible verse mentioning purgatory, I'd like you to send them to me.
