She has started taking off her diaper when wet or dirty. Is this a sign she is ready to start potty training?

You can try showing her the potty and encouraging her. Maybe switch her to pull-ups. But you have to remember that not liking the feeling of a dirty diaper is not the same as having bladder control. There's a complex set of feelings a child has to figure out before they get to the potty. First they have to have bladder capacity and figure out that the feeling in her belly means that she's going to pee and that means wet diaper or potty. Then she has to get to the potty, etc., etc. It's a good sign that she doesn't like the diaper on. My oldest son was like that and he toilet trained easily and early. The girls might have started around that age (who remembers after all these years :) but then they'd get playing and couldn't be bothered - annoying! So I would recommend encouraging her and hoping for the best but don't be surprised if she has set backs. Keep the pull-ups handy!

Yes,yes, yes. My neice is going through the same thing right now (she just turned 2 and has been doing this for the past 6 months). She's still very young, but you can give it a shot. My neice is only 1 of 7 children...the 2nd youngest, so my sister knows what she's doing....lol....she's been potty training (slowly) for 4 months now and is doing quite well, she just turned 2 yesterday.
Is your daughter still in a crib? When my neice started taking her diaper off when it was wet my sister decided to get her a toddler bed...she was doing it mostly when she was in her crib so she figured that if she was able to get out of bed in the morning and play with her toys instead of staying in her bed until someone came to get her...then she wouldnt take off her diaper...well it worked, she stopped doing it so much, but my sister still started potty training her.

yes that is the number one sign to look for 'they don't like the feeling of being wet or dirty anymore'.....this is will not be easy by any means......try it at first and see how she does.....if she shows no interest in it try again in a month....don't just throw it on her.....get her a potty and a potty book to read while she sits on it.....let her put her teddy on the potty too....make sure you always praise her just for sitting on it.....also jelly belly's work for my son.....he gets 1 for peeing in the potty and 2 for pumbas....your daughter is younger than my son....so i would do stickers......its takes about a whole year for them to truly get it down.....no more accidents that sort of thing......just make sure when she starts getting the hang of it too have lots of potty breaks, before you leave the house, when u get to a store, when u leave the store and right when u get home.....also try and find some underwear for her so she can get used to them.....I'm sure once she goes in them she will hate the feeling.....its hard to find underwear for kids under 3.........i had to buy a size 3 and wash them in hot hot water and then dry them on extra hot heat......and they were okay....good luck.....this a fun milestone, but its also stressful

Also most people wait til there kids are about 2 1/2 to 3 years old.....just b/c they dont want to mess with it.....you know your daughter if you try it and you think shes ready then great if u think she could wait a few more months then thats fine.....they grow up fast enough already

Absolutely. She might not get the hang of it right away but she needs to be introduced to it. She is now understanding what a wet or dirty diaper feels like and she doesn't like it. Start slowly but I think she is ready.

No, this is a sign that you need to keep a onsie on her. My son started doing the same thing at that age, and BOY what a mess that was. I no longer trust him to take naps in just a diaper.

she is ready to potty train. I have five girls and all of them did that. just work with her on it and in a couple months you won't be buying diapers. all my girls were potty trained by 20 months.

Yes, that might be sign that she needs undies. She's probably feeling dirty and doesn't like it. So she has to dry out, because they don't want to feel that wetness all over their bottom and it probably iritates the skin on the bottom.

I would have to say yes she is. Start off slow but eventually they will get the hang of it. Dont ever tell her she is a bad girl for having an accident though, try and be patient and calm.

Might be, but that's alittle early. All kids go through the "naked" period, when they just like to be naked. We have pictures of a "naked" Christmas when my daughter was 2. She just refused to stay dressed.
