I have 2 sons, ages 8 and 11. The 8 year old makes our bathroom smell like a porta-potty peeing all over the toilet, behind the toilet, the floor, the sides of the walls, etc.
He jumps up & down every time he goes because he waits until the last minute. He unzippers & starts going up in the air and then flings it around only getting half of it actually in the toilet. Then, like his father, he wiggles it over the toilet when he's done to get rid of the last fee drops.
On the times he does open the cover, it's still all over the walls and floor and garbage pail.
I cannot keep up with the cleaning as I have fibromyalgia, arthritis & fatigue +
Even after I clean it still stinks. I thought it was coming from the toilet itself. But I got on my hands & knees & scrubed & hot steamed the entire bathroom & it finally smelled ok..until his fountain started again.
Does anyone have any suggestions? The 8 year old is extremely rebellious & laughs at punishments. I'm at my witts end

I insisted he sit on the toilet but his father won't let him, said for him not to do it since only girls sit on the toilet. So he doesn't remember to do that or he remembers what daddy says.

is the floor carpeted or not. We had carpeted floor in our bathroom and I replaced it with tile. Carpet should never be in bathrooms. That helped big time. I also would still make him sit and pee because if he can't control it than thats what he has to do. I would then tell your husband to replace the carpet with tile (if that is the case) and also that he should be in charge of getting him to aim right. It shouldn't be the moms job to do that. If that doesn't work I would make him and your hubby clean it up. Also when his friends come over I would put a sign up in the bathroom telling him to pee in the toilet.
The thing is that he doesn't need to be teached, he already knows how to do it. Heck he is 8 years old. He just doesn't respect you. So I would try and embarass him. As for your hubby, take it from a man, you have more power in that house than you think. You need to tell him off. It is his job to fix this problem not yours.

i have the same kind of problem with my two boys. Try making a game out of it. Even though the Cheerio game is usually used for 2 year olds....if you put a scoreboard on the wall next to the toilet, the boys will compete with each other.
One point for every Cheerio that they hit. If there are no Cheerios on the floor, you will be in good shape. Boys are simple minded like that (im a guy, so i can say that)
Anyone who thinks you should make them clean it or make them pee outside may be slightly misguided. Boys that age don't respond to negative reinforcement like that. Heck...I'm 34 and even I dont respond well to that.
Ask yourself this.....do you want to be the mean mom who made him clean it up? Or the coolest mom in the neighborhood that has a dart board scoreboard in the can?

8 and 11 are old enough to clean toilets and the floor surrounding them. In fact, 11 is old enough to give you lots of help, and it sounds like you need it.
But, as for the "aim" problem, try some of those little targets you drop in the toilet water and have them aim at them like it's a game. Boys do love their shooting games. And then the target dissolved with the flush. It would be worth the cost.

this could be a real problem. He might be accidentally doing it. Sometimes males are born with extra skin in their privates and it needs to be clipped. The skin can cause them to have trouble using the bathroom and getting all of their urine in the toilet. He might also be waiting until the last minute because it hurts when he does finally urinate. I would talk to your doctor about it.
If none of this is the case then I would make him clean it up after he makes the mess. After he has the chore of doing that a few times he will think before urinating all over the floor and walls.

Same problem at my house and you know what fixed it?
POCKET MONEY!!! Every time this happens i take away some of it. On the floor -.5c on the seat -.5c (i figure the odd drop will happen but they are quite capable of cleaning it up) and if he pee's through the seat and on the lid which then run's down and gathers in the rim it is -.20c and if i sit in it in the dark 9don't turn on lights at night) then it is .50c. He only gets 2.50 pocket money. Amazingly it has all stopped. Toilet is clean and no longer smells like a men's urinal. Shows he can do it if he tries. So give this one a go. Make up your own amounts to correspond with the amount of pocket money

Maybe you could draw a target on the inside of the toilet ( a mark with a texta or something that won't wash off) offer incentives if the toilet remains clean. Or failing that put the whole family on a roster system to clean the bathroom and toilet. If they all have to clean up, they will make sure it's not a mess. And if your husband has to do it, he will have words with the boys about their aim. Or failing all that, go on strike till they improve their aim.

Make dad clean the bathroom, maybe he will be a bit more supportive, in helping your 8 year old out. Im not saying this to judge your husband...i am just saying it cause men are THICK ( as my sister woudl say) and sometimes they need a hands on lesson before they realize what your dealing with. Then maybe when your husband realizes how gross it is, he can step in and work some magic with your 8 year old.

since daddy don't wan't him sitting on the toilet like a girl than daddy needs his *** on the floor scrubbing the piss up. Or start making him clean it up (the son) and I'm sure he will stop. And watch for signs that he has to go to the toilet and make him go early instead of waiting till he can't hold it.

Your sons are old enough to clean up after themselves. I say once a day, one of them goes in and cleans up the toilet, the floor and whatever else gets sprayed. Maybe it will help them improve their aim, maybe not. Either way, you don't have to clean it.
By the way, hubby does the wiggle and never spills a drop anywhere but in the bowl. So, it can be done!

Make it a more positive thing. Create a chart with boxes for each day of the week and hang it on the bathroom door. Each day the bathroom is clean a gold star goes in the box. A week of stars means a prize or a trip or something.
