I am currently enrolled in the respiratory care program, and I am the vice president of the "club" that we formed. Almost every program forms one, then you have fund raisers, and place the money earned into our account. You then use the money to help cover expenses of seminars, and speakers throughout your enrollment there. I was wondering, other then the common bake sale, what are some other good fund raising ideas. Our goal is $5,000 over the next year and half.

Yes, you can contact a sales consultant from places like Home Interiors or Longaberger. They have fundraiser programs. Maybe T-shirt sales, carnivals, I mean it depends on how involved you want to be too.

I am not sure about where you live but I know here a lot of restaurants have fund raiser nights where so much of the profit made between certain hours are given to your organization. Also a carnival is always a good way to make some money, a dance or themed social is another good way. If you do a dance or social, make sure you have a good PR person, and advertise. A good tool is to let people know this will be a safe place for their families to be, no drinking, drugs, or violence. Good luck to you, I hope you find something that works. Bless you.

Try a COIN CRAWL. Pick a starting point and a finishing point, put down a row of coins on the ground and ask people to help you move to the finish line by adding coins. Use and area in the central business district and as you move past shops, ask them to also sponsor you and in return you give them some free publicity. Use a microphone, well known identity and build the tension with having a target to reach. As you advance down the road remove some coins every so often, so that you do not have a security problem. In parallel with this you could run the same fund raiser on a basketball court, at a big match during half-time using the outside lines. If it was going really well, you could continue down the transverse lines. Good luck!!

You can do the Dime Drive- you ask people to only out in a dime (of course many peopleput in more!). It raised our group about $3500 in a year... we placed it in the hall outside of the office and people walked by. A dime is a lot easier for many to spare than a dollar or to buy those over priced novelties.
Other wise Katheryn Bachman fundraiser is also good!

have a silent (or not silent) auction for things that you have donated examples
gift certificates for all the restaurants in your town. (whatever they will donate is fine $5-$100.)
balloon bouquets from all the flower shops
gallons of paint from the paint stores
ask furniture stores for a curio cabinet or wall art
movie tickets
free pizza coupon from all the pizza places in town
museum tickets
zoo tickets
theme park tickets
ask all the jewelery stores to donate whatever they want (ear rings)
base ball tickets
football tickets
boat cruise tickets if near river
your imagination is the limit
I have personally done this and it is an awesome way to raise money
you have to give plenty of time to type up donation letter and distribute some of the higher priced items and businesses might want up to 3 months to approve a donation so give your self plenty of time
(AND DON'T FORGET TO TELL EVERYONE WHAT BUSINESSES HELPED YOU OUT AS WORD OF MOUTH ADVERTISEMENT FOR THEM AND SEND THANK YOU NOTES)

Try selling Raffle tickets. Everyone loves to win money, baskets filled with neat stuff. Usually you can sell 3 tickets for 5 dollars. Ask a local business to donate prizes.
