so many people like to laugh or make jokes about what Jesus did for them. He came and died and rose again to live forever more. yet the fool has said there is No God, reminds me of a scripture
Mt:7:13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mt:7:14: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Try this. Pretend, that you have just arrived on good old planet Earth. You ask one of the local inhabitants what their religious believes are, they answer why, I'm Christian. You ask, what's that? Please explain. They proceed to enlighten you.

Well, there was this man/God that was born around 2000 years ago, no one is exactly sure when, but it happened in a manger. His mother was a virgin and remained a virgin even after the birth. One of the cool things is, that no one knew he was a god, until these angels came from the sky and told everyone. We don't really know what happened during his life for the first thirty or so years but he suddenly reappears one day, in this small country in one of our Mideastern deserts and brings his message of salvation. Well, we don't know for sure what he actually said, we have no written record from his time and most of what he said wasn't recorded until years after he died by people that no one can identify. Anyway, another guy named Paul, tells us all about him. Paul never actually met him or saw him in person, but he did have a mysterious vision of him on a very hot day as he was traveling to a place called Damascus. But I digress, the locals did not like this man/God and had their overlords kill him, in the most horrible way. This all happened, so we could be rescued from our fallen state of sin and be saved. Oh yes! his father/alter ego God/Holy Spirit who created everything, ordered that this should happen. After three days this man/God was raised from the dead and went back to heaven to sit at the right hand of himself. We believe this because some of his followers swear up and down that he came back to life. Most of them were superstitious, illiterate peasants but, we trust their word, after all why would they make this up. Besides, we have the word of Paul, remember the guy that never witnessed any of this in person but by now is the world's foremost authority on this man/God. The good news is, that if you follow this believe you too can be one of the chosen few to go to heaven and be with him. Oh yes! the bad news is that if you don't believe, you will burn in Hell for all eternity. But remember that this man/God is all about love and kindness, It's his father/God alter ego that's the jerk.

So, why would you guess so many people think it's a joke?

I think many people act that way because they are embarrased to admit what God has done for them.

In the verse below I think you could substitute the word embarassed for ashamed.

MARK 8: 38. Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

ROD H...........you got it man!!! God Bless You...Thanks for the references...What most people, that have not found God, don't have the understanding, God does not cause war!! Like another answer you received, Why would God let all this happen, war, sickness, hatred, and the like. God does not cause these things, MAN DOES, like on one of your answers also said. It is amazing to me how people do not get it!!!!! But what they don't understand, is that it is Satan, that is making them the way they feel and believe. The one answer you got, said HE WANTS TO BURN IN HELL, OMG, how could anyone wish that on themselves or anyone else???? It is beyond me!!!! Our country was founded on the beliefs in God and it is appalling to me how so many people want to take God out of most everything in our country or everything period!!
