Do you find that as you cut foods out and shop more carefully, you become more sensitive? I'm allergic to eggs and only found that out two years ago at age 30; I used to not be bothered by the way I felt when I ate ice cream, but now I am. Is it a matter of becoming more sensitive, or just better able to understand that there is a problem? I actually passed up ice cream in favor of Rice Dream tonight, because I feel better with the Rice Dream, and I *never* thought I would do that.

Also, when you try to be careful, are you afraid that other people will see you differently, as someone who is really finicky and cowardly? And...well, do they see you differently?

Ice cream usually contains eggs, that's why there's the problem.

Your taste buds have changed because of the changes you had to make in your diet, and subconsciously you are drawn away from what causes you problems. The great thing is: you have found a replacement that satisfies your craving!

I was a junk food junkie, and was on steroids for my back, not a good combination!
When I became serious about loosing weight; I craved all of it at first. The longer I stayed away from junk food; the more I wanted fruits and veggies, and really liked them! Then it happened, I went to a party and was offered a piece of cake, I took one bite and thought I was going to be ill. It was like a sugar overload instantly, I had to go and spit it out! No one could believe it. I would normally have two or three pieces of cake. Now if I have cookie, cake, or pie, I have the same reaction.
Great for my figure.

Don't be bothered by it, it is a normal reaction that occurs.

Actually, most ice cream does NOT have eggs in it, there is only milk, cream, and sugar. Buy Breyers if you're really concerned about the eggs. French style ice cream does have eggs in it.

If you feel better with Rice Dream, you might want to check with your doctor about lactose intolerance. If you're lactose intolerant, all ice cream will bother you regardless of eggs.

As for the second part of your question, don't worry what other people think. Food allergies are very serious, if they're bad enough you can actually die. You have to look at for your health because no one else will.

I am allergic to eggs too. And so are my mom and 2 of my sisters. I am only allergic to the egg white and have to be careful of products using egg whites. I am also allergic to many other foods as well. People do not treat me any different because I let them know why I cannot eat certain foods. I wouldn't worry about what others think. They are not the ones who have to suffer.

Sounds like you are obsessing more. But some people develop more allergies as they get older. Is your ice cream thing an allergy or lactose intolerance? two different things and the latter is more common and develops more and more as we get older. Also treatable.

Cantaloupe and bananas
Citrus fruits

Mine is minor though so I don't do anything to treat it. I just avoid eating them sometimes.
