Therapy isn't supposed to just make you feel better and to complain about your problems. They figure out what is causing your problem and assist you in solving problems in your life. If you want to solve the problems. This is where the work comes in. You have to work on it and it is not always easy. It can be difficult before it gets better. I know not every method is for everyone. But keep an open mind, usually the methods they prescribe are good for you- but you are sabotaging yourself if you don't try.

If you are not open to therapy it is a waste of the therapists time. If you really want help, maybe you also need to see a psychiatrist to prescribe medication for you. Also, there are different methods of treatment. You have to work with the therapist to find what works best for you.

Different methods of treatment fit different individuals. Psychological therapy doesn't heal in 'one-day', it takes time. Certain method don't seems like useful, but may be it takes time and in the long run, its effects show.

These counselors and psychologists take years of schooling to be able to treat people, but you're right, some of them do suck and screw with your mind even more. You have to find the right one, and like one of our readers said, you have to want to be helped in order to change. I agree one hundred percent.

You mean like your problem of the poor grasp of English? If you aren't open to therapy it's a waste of money and the time of you both. Sounds like it must have been court ordered. Was it for domestic violence or probation?

An experienced therapist can help you learn how to solve your own problems by looking at them from a perspective not available to simple self reflection.

The most difficult thing I find in dealing with therapy is for ME to CHANGE & GET OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE! That is the HARDEST thing to do!

They can help a great deal. They listen & give you ideas that can & will work. YOU/WE just have to LISTEN & put what THEY say into PRACTICE!!! EXTREMELY difficult to do! Especially when you/we are set in our ways!!! LOL

They can only help you if you have faith in them. I don't see paying $300 per hour to a dude that just says "hmm...... how did that make you feel?"

Uhhh, because they're educated and trained to do so. If you don't simply object to their personality, know that the process isn't suppose to be pleasant. They have objectivity where you don't.
