My husband ate some mac' n cheese that set out on counter overnight. I am afraid he's going to get really sick. What can I do? Has anyone here gotten sick from this or other dairy product before? Did you have to go to the hospital?

I think you are pushing the panic button. Yeah, he can get sick, but not as sick as you think. I think the only time that can really cause illness is if your house is very hot. Otherwise he should be fine, I don't recommend making a habit out of it.

If it is mac and cheese out of a box, it's not really dairy, so he should be all right. Make sure to have some Pepto on hand, just in case. My dad ate green bologna once and he didn't get sick at all! I think some people are born with cast-iron stomachs, lol. Besides, if he does get a belly-ache, let's just hope it teaches him a lesson. Plus it would be just what he deserves for making you worry, lol. Good luck!

Unless he has a really bad immune system I think he will be okay. Remember, cheddar cheese is one of the most aged cheeses around so exposing it to the average room temperature overnight shouldn't be a problem. Also, check out how many cheeses there are out there that they sell outside the refridgerated sections. Granted, exposing it to the open air makes a difference but again, not in such a short time.

hmmm properly i'm extremely fussy about cheese - I hate it because it tastes so very resembling butter and that i HATE butter, so I do in ordinary words eat cheese if this is on a pizza, even with the undeniable fact that it may't purely be any pizza, it should be from a get rid of ( quickly foodstuff) position, and every time I eat the different pizza i'm getting it made up with out cheese. :)

When I was pregnant, my ex-husband (then husband) fed me some mac & cheese that had those flour worms in it. After a few bites, I saw the worms and threw it all away. I never did get sick though.

Would not worry about it . The preservatives in the cheese powder took care of everything. loll. Don't worry, he will be fine. It is not the first time that someone eat stuff left on the counter.

Ah, he'll probably be alright. I ate pizza that was sitting out all night and was fine. If you're worried tell him to eat some raw garlic. Also if it was that boxed mac and cheese they put so many chemicals and perservatives in it that it will kill anything (maybe even your hubby).

He might get sick, but he might also be fine. Just wait and see how he does. If he vomits or has diarrhea and becomes dehydrated, then he'll need to go to the emergency room. Otherwise just wait for it to pass.
