It's a small coil inside the distributor that took the place of mechanical points a number of years ago.

Hall effect sensor reads notches or gear teeth as they pass the magnetic field and coil of wire. Thus the hall effect is the waveform generated. Crank shaft position sensors, Anti lock brake sensors, And mechanics replaced ignition points (mechanical) with hall effect sensors and ignition amplifier in the 70's (solid state transistor) and no one adjusted points or timing again...

They just link the A/V out on your STB to the A/V in on your TV (SCART or otherwise). Some have remote relay to control your STB from the other location, some require a separate IR relay. To specifically answer your question, yes you can watch programmes from your DVR elsewhere in your home.

It is part of pickup coil in side the distributer cap.They work together.It breaks spark for the coil or coils.
