Polyamoury: being able to love more than one person in a committed relationship.
Example: A husband and wife who have another woman in their lives and bed, NOT just for sex, but for comfort, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, a sounding board, a referree... Can this type of relationship really work?

Maybe in some religious cults in Utah? But not in mainstream US communities. There'd be way too much social stigma. Even it worked inside the house, it'd never work outside.

I don't think its possible, a marriage is a thing of 2 and anyone else will brake the sacred vows of love and cause problems.
