A while back, the Town of Herndon, Virginia, just across the border in Fairfax County did something I thought was utterly stupid. Here is the situation. A 7-11 in Herndon found itself the unofficial gathering point for day laborers, most of them illegal aliens. The owners of the 7-11, along with local contractors and such, wanted the town to open a day center for them, spending $200,000 of taxpayer money in the process. Public opinion was very strongly against this center, as was the local planning board. Nevertheless, the town council decided to vote for it anyway. Now there is going to be a long legal battle as opponents try to get an injunction that will cost more money.
This is such a F.U.B.A.R. on so many levels. First, the members of the council went contrary to the will of the vast majority of the people they are supposed to represent. What kind of morons are these? Sure, I know we are a republic and we elect representatives to rule on our behalf according to their conscience, but come on. They went through 2 days of very heated, passionate hearings. If they already knew what they were going to do, why waste the time? Why go through the pretense? It was pure and simple arrogance of power. A ‘we are with the government and we know better’ mentality. Every one of those council members should be recalled if for no other reason than so politicians will know that the people will hold them accountable.
I hold the 7-11 owner responsible for some of this mess as well. If he did not want 150 people in his parking lot every day he should have called the police and had them arrested for loitering. That is what the law is for. If they were customers coming into the store and spending money, it sure would not have been a problem for him. But since they were just hanging out, urinating on the building wall and throwing trash all over, then he wants someone else to do something about it.
Then there are the workers. I do not have a problem with your average Joe (or average Jose, since almost all of them are Hispanic) trying to make a living, but most of these people are illegal aliens. I know many people think I am a racist for saying this, but illegal aliens should be sent back home. If they want to come to the US, let them get in line. My grandmother had to get in line before she came here in the 1930s, why should they get away with breaking the law to sneak into this country?
But my biggest complaint, my most potent venom is aimed at the people that come around in trucks to hire these workers. I keep hearing these people say that we have to let these illegals stay because the economy would collapse without them. They pick the vegetables and build the houses. Without them, a cantaloupe would cost $5 and a house twice as much as it does now. Do you see what they are advocating? It is called SLAVERY! It is not that you cannot find Americans to do these jobs. It is that you cannot find Americans who will do it without paying social security, maintaining legally mandated safe work conditions, following fair labor laws, or even paying them minimum wage. It is all about lining their pockets. We should find every one of these people and, after the IRS audit takes most of what they own, we should throw them in jail.
We have laws for a reason. Just because you disagree with them does not mean you get to disobey them. Sorry for the rant, but it is something that I have been following for the past few weeks now and it just boils my blood that the powerful trample on the average citizen like this.

The answer to your question is yes. but u already know that don't u.
I left California in 2003 because the Mexicans took over my beautiful town of Riverside as well as San Bernardino.
From the time Clinton was pres. till now CA has gone from 10% Mexican to over 50% mexican 40% of which r illegals. They r not immigrants they r illegal aliens, who want to be called immigrants.
The governemnt allowed this Mexican invasion to supply corp's and business's with cheap labor and new consumers.
I beleive there will be a revolutionary war in this country.

Besides Answers in Genesis, most creationist leaders tend not to tell their followers about which arguments have been debunked. It's easier to convince people to believe what you believe if you tell them that everything you've said is true. (Also, I'm not saying that Answers in Genesis is right, but they at least try to come up with new arguments after their old ones are shown to be faulty.) EDIT: Hannah: Are you sure you want to link to a website that claims there are no transitions between water and land animals? Brendan posted a link to Tiktaalik, which is a transitional fossil that is between water and land animals. This is exactly what he means by saying that Creationists still use debunked arguments.

It's too sad to contemplate ... and it probably is too late for California unless something drastic is done and pretty goddamn quick at that ...
As for Angela R ... sitting slap bang in a sanctuary city like El Paso doesn't really say much for the rest of the U.S .. I'm sure the illegals are having a good time there, and it would be very foolish for them to upset the apple cart too visibly ... seems the good citizens of El Paso bury their heads in the sand about the drug cartels who operate openly from Juarez to El Paso ... what you don't see you don't suffer from ....

As people in this forum have stated numerous times, America will turn into a 3rd world country if this continues. Until something is done, it will get progressively worse.

California is an open state accessible by land, sea and air. It is the main gateway from Asia, Mexico and Canada. Closing its borders is like building a Great Wall of China which could not be done with just a few billions of dollars. Thus, it has to regulate its acceptance of people from other countries to survive.

It doesn't have to be this way if we strengthen our borders and institute a 15 year moratorium on immigration except highly skilled professionals.
