my daughter is nearly 23 mos old. she speaks a lot and knows all the alphabets A-Z, numbers 1-10, shapes and colors.
she likes to listen to songs but she can't sing at all. she says a little lyrics of the song but she can't sing, there's no rhythm.
I just wanna know at what age a child knows how to sing a little song then a full song.

thanks for all of ur answers!

I think she's actually pretty advanced for her age. Maybe around the age of 3 she'll start singing. That's great that she knows the alphabet, shapes, colors, etc.

It depends on the level of the child, but most can sing 50% of a simple song (like the ABC's or I'm a Little Teapot) between the ages of 2 and 3. Some children really pick up easily on the rhythm and tune of songs, and others take a while. Just keep singing to her, and she will get it. By 4, you'll get entire songs, the tune (or a close approximation), and the rhythm. By 6-7, they'll be singing the Top 40! Research shows that music and math are highly correlated, so keep at it and you may have a math wizard! Have fun!

My 3 & 1/2 yr old has been singing for about a year and half. Totally out of tune, but she belts it like she's Kelly Clarkson (and often that's what she sings). She did not know her ABC's and numbers till just after her second birthday. I would say she's a little behind the curve if I compared her to her friends (which I don't normally bother with worrying about).
Hope that gives you a comparitive.

My 2yr old daughter can sing some songs but then other songs she just repeats the lyrics but without the rhythm. My four yr old does pretty good though but it basicly depends on the song!!!!

my daughter is now 29 months and can sing most of the nursery songs. She started to sing a verse or two around 2 years old. When she entered childcare, she can sing very well now.

i think when child listen more and participate more, they will learn very fast.

so no worries, is just a matter of time.

My 5 month old sings in her cooing way, but I don't think they can sing a "real" song, until around 2-1/2.

My son is two and 3 months and he can sing nursery rhymes and the alphabet song - this has only been happening about a month. He is so proud of himself and thinks hes so clever!!

Once again, it depends on the child. Some children will never sing and others start singing before they talk. Give her time. When she is ready to sing, she will.

It all depends on the child development. She has the right enironment. I think they start around 2 or so.
She will eventually learn how to sing. Hmm maybe you should sing with her and she would know how to it right.
If not do rush and let her learn by herself.

all kids are different depending on which part of the brain develops. some kids at 2 can't do what your child can but can sing. others cant walk at 2 but are able to speak fluently. if you try to compare your chld to others in all categories yu will drive yur child, and yourself crazy. she will sing when she is ready.
