No. Prayer isn't about getting what we want. It's about aligning ourselves with God. The word does say to bring everything in prayer to Him, but God is soverign over all things, and we won't always get what we ask for, when we ask for it, and the way we want it done.

Personally....if people truly knew the power of prayer, I think it would be impossible to get them off their knees. I know from my own life the awesome and incredible power of prayer in Jesus' name.

Matthew 17; 20 So Jesus said to them, because of your unbelief for assuredly, I say unto you,if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain,Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.

Powerful prayers, prayed in accordance with the will of God,are always answered. Perhaps not as you expected, but answered all the same. The prayers of the righteous avails much.

Prayer Moves Mountains.
No you can't pray for anything if u have enough faith.
But you can ask anything according to God's will and He will hear you and move mountains on your behalf. It can cause the lame to walk, the blind to see, and deaf to hear. It can even raise up from the dead. It has power to change a life from kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.

Try it. You never know til ya try it.

Gives you peace of mind...and makes you feel good and light, so yes prayer is powerful. Its not always correct to say that prayers bring all that you need, you need to work hard to achieve something and at the same time pray for the best to happen. I pray for you dear....all the best for whatever you pray for.

We cannot fully conceive the divine power. It is so powerful that even the world's Greatest Educators such as Krishna, Moses, Christ... had to pray and had been answered.
However, just imagine, if we prayed for wealth and all of us would become rich, then who will labor to bring our world to an ever-advancing civilization? I think, if I pray for wealth with the true knowledge and sincere aspiration that I will spend it with all other possessions of mine (health, time, soul, mind...) to serve humanity, I believe that God may accept my prayer.
So, when we have learned about the Will of God and conform our prayer to that Will, we can pray for anything with the assurance that God will answer.

What I've learned from my own experience with this matter is that you shouldn't be praying to get things, you should be praying for God to help you give things.
Once you begin to give things, including yourself, you will soon realize that life is about giving and not receiving (like this answer I'm giving you now), and God will reward you by giving you the things you need and sometimes desire.
I'm not saying that you don't already know this, but you may not be giving as much to others as you can.

Pray or not to pray you'll get what you need if it meant for you. I remember one verse where it said how God feed those birds and that how much more would He do for us His children.

Then why pray? First, It teaches us to develop our faith to the invisible God. Secondly it opens our mind whether our asking is reasonable or not. Third, it opens our eyes to question our own motive for praying. Do we pray because we simply want to test God and prove the prayer itself is superstitious belief? Do we pray to experiment on the power of prayer. Or do we pray with our heart and allow our prayer answer itself?

Only if it is a sincere heartfelt plans and goes according to God's plans for you...too many people go to God the same way they visit Santa in the mall; with a list of requests as long as their arm, and when they don't get the job/girl/guy/money/promotion/car etc etc they lash out because "God doesn't answer prayers." So if you are sincere, you can ask God fervently for what you want, but as the song says, some of God's greatest blessings are unanswered prayers--because He always knows what is best for us.

Anyone who thinks prayer doesnt work should meet my friend Steve. Too many people prayed for his brain tumor to shrink. Now his head is the size of a walnut!

Seriously.. Nothing fails like prayer.
