1) Pray the people who think prayer will fix this problem that they pray for the prayers of praying, pray, pray. Pray, pray pray... (Sheesh people. It's a question, not a religious soapbox.)
2) Your problem may possibly be taken care of by education and will. Perhaps study what actually happens when food metabolizes in your body. When you understand how junk food enters your digestive system and reacts chemically with the other systems of your body, you will develop an appreciation for why it is called *junk* food.
3) Are you eating because you are hungry or because you have a craving for a particular goodie or snack? If you are actually hungry, try some tasty new, but healthier, treats you may be unfamiliar with. Buy some dates, figs, fruit, trail mix. But remember, it is a snack, not a meal. Have just enough to take the edge off your hunger. Even an occaisional handful of cheetos won't kill you. Everything in moderation.
4) Or just pray your body doesn't get cancer from the free radicals concomitant with eating junk food.

It helps a lot if you don't keep any junk food in the house. You have to really want to eat healthful foods and want to be healthy worse than you want to eat junk food. Eating junk food is a habit so to break it, start a new habit!

Remember this: You crave your poison. Junk food contains too much salt and fat and is over-processed which means it has little if any nutritional value so you are eating polluted air for all intents and purposes -- that means you need the opposite.
Let yourself have a little, but choose food that you can eat without cooking first to help with the digestion of the junk food. Live foods have enzymes that will help you digest the other food.

Substitution and moderation is the key.
Find substitutes. You want chips, try low fat microwave popcorn, or pretzels.
Instead of telling yourself you CAN'T have junk food, start by saying that when you crave junk food that you will eat something healthy first, like an apple or carrot sticks and water and then if you still crave it, have some, in moderation.

For starters, when you go grocery shopping only buy healthy food instead of junk. This way, when you are home and feel like snacking, you won't be tempted to eat junk because there won't be any in the house.

replace junk food with subway.. still not entierely healthy but a better choice. also at the same time have junk maybe once a week.
You can still be healthy and eat junk food though, do cardiovascular exercise accompanied by weight lifting to keep your heart as well as your body healthy.

Hi I have been trying desperately to lose my baby weight and I understand trying to 'fight the urge' to eat junk....I suggest finding out what your caloric intake is daily. (You can do a search on most any engine) according to your gender and weight. Then cut it by 500 cals per day to start. I am not expert but I have lost 7 lbs...and it hasn't been hard.
Try those 100 cal packs that are hot in the supermarkets right now. They come in various assortments; chips ahoy, pringles, etc. So you don't have to totally deprive, just limit yourself. Good luck to you!

Today I was at my barn and I haven't had anything junk foodish in a long time. Anyways. I was at the barn and I was looking at the vending machine and I was like "I WANT AN ALMOND JOY." I have never liked Almond Joy. I walked away.
Just walk away.
Also, make sure that your diet is well balanced and has enough protein and you won't get hungry. You won't get cravings if you stop eating the "bad" food!

Buy subsitutes - simple things at first. Baked potato chips for fried. Cut fruit with yorgut dip for candy and so on. Then ease your way off those on to natural stuff.
Barring that - behavior modification helps some people.
Wrap a rubber band around your wrist. Everytime you reach for junk, snap it.
Pavlov anyone?
