to answer your question simply: yes, I do believe that it is as the bible said.
in response: many people have said Judaism (and most religions) is something made up to help leaders control their people. Many people are skeptical of many things. I've skewed.
You have to understand that people thousands of years ago were not foolish idiots quick to believe and hop on ridiculous sounding b.s. In fact, those people were more than likely ridiculed (ancient greece) or killed (ancient rome).
Who was Moses? He was raised to be the next Pharohe. He was to have the most beautiful woman in the land, etc. He was given the best education and training. He was not the type of guy to believe some crazy sounding stuff unless it was reality. I mean why lie about a burning bush and stone tablets. He didn't need the theatrics. If he wanted to lead a revolt all he had to do was simply educate the people and lead them to freedom as best as he knew how. However, even Moses was not allowed into the land of milk and honey. Because of when he himself disobeyed God. Do you think he could not have simply gone into the land and at least had a few years of peace? They wandered around in the desert for a long time. Was this some brilliant tactic of a man? Is it coincidence that Moses himself had to sacrifice his life for his people? He was a king. Yet he had to make the choice to be a king an enslaved people. He chose the struggle and sacrifice. He had to die in order for his body to enter into the promise land. If you study all the parallels of Moses to the new testament and Jesus, you will see a vast similarity. Except Moses procalimed there would be another. While Jesus simply was. There's so many parallels in the Bible it's ridiculous. How could people know that thousands of years later this same story, these same principals etc. would repeat themselves over and over until the messiah came. Almost similar to the people walking around in circles in the desert.
Anyway, that's the best response I can say without doing serious research.

the Egyptian book of the Dead has the negative confessions, which have a lot of the same philosophies as the Commandments. Moses basically wrote down (or carved in to either stone or mud which baked in to tablets) some laws that he was familiar with from and brought those back.

I actually don't believe it. I also happen to know that most of those commandments were already written in the negative confessions from the Egyptian Book of the Dead before Moses supposedly wrote them down. And as Moses grew up in Egypt and was raised as a prince, his family would have had a copy of the Book of the Dead. So I can bet where the commandments really came from, can't you?

The flaming bush incident was before they let Egypt. But, yes, I believe God gave Moses those commandments.

I do not think the old testament was ment to be taken that literally. It should be taken as a story about TRUTH, not fact. The other half of that is that we can only guess at what the facts were. I know in my heart that God is in control, and that's all I need to be sure of.

The commandments in the bible can be found in two places that predate the bible. The Egyptian Book of the Dead, and The Code of Hammurabi. Proof that god is a plagiarist.

i dont think that moses-pbuh would do anything like that. remember, moses - pbuh was a very wealthy and rich pharoah and he himself gave up his luxuries to follow the very simple path of God. what was the need for a pharoah and due - heir to the throne to leave his empire and wear rags just to climb a mountain and carve something.
dont u think that it is a lil too ridiculous to blame him.?
well first it was muhammed-pbuh, then it was jesus-pbuh and now moses-pbuh. so u guys are tracking them down one by one. huh....................... keep up the good work.
may Allah bless u and forgive u for the sins.

Well, why not? Really, is that so far fetched? You believe in Santa don't you, how does he get down all those chimneys, and the houses without fireplaces, all over the world, in one night? Wouldn't the sled have to be really big too? You got to have faith.

Moses was pretty old at the time, how long do you think it took him to climb up the mountain, then climb back down carrying two stone tablets?
