Right now I have a DivX video file that I want to burn to disc. I want to be able to use it in my dvd player. Do I need to convert it to something else or will this work?

You will need a DVD burning software, such as Nero or Roxio Easy Creator. Either will have a "Make a Video DVD" selection that will take the divx file, convert it to the proper format for a DVD, and burn it to the DVD with a menu for selection the video when the DVD starts.

Depending on the DVD player that you have. You might have to convert to mpeg (a more popular format) before burning it to a disk.
