Yes, in North America (Canada, U.S, Mexico) you can bring a laptop on board an aircraft. You still have to take your laptop out of your bag to go through the X-ray machine, but you can still take it on the plane. Same goes for iPods, cell phones and Game Boys and any other electronic items.

Travelling within, to and from the UK:
In the UK you can bring your laptop onboard the aircraft, and it must go through the X-ray machines,The laptop may be hand inspected by a security officer. Since there are strict carry on luggage restrictions still in place in the UK, you may only be able to bring the laptop since each person is only allowed one carry one item (inculding laptops) that can be no larger than a brief case. If your travelling from anywere in North America TO the UK, this restriction is in place as well.

Any other flights within or to places OTHER than the UK, has the standard carry on luggage rules in place (which is usually no more than 2 carry on bags per person).

I think Sonic and I are the only 2 that actually know anything about the travel industry from recent activity I have seen on here.

There is also another flight attendant that knows quite a bit, her picture is a flight attendant barbie doll

What sonic said is correct

and to add on to it. The ban is on liquids, gels, creams, lotions, ect.
It has NOTHING to do with your laptop.
people are over reacting.
And for the people who say that eventually there will be no carry-ons....They know nothing about aviation, security and the travel industry itself. That will NEVER happen and I can assure you of that.

I would consider calling the airport just to see what restrictions they have in terms of what you can and cannot bring before going to the airport. That way you'll save a lot of time and hassle in the long run.

i'm thinking eventually you are not going to be able to have any luggage or anything on airplanes, which is going to suck big time for many that travel a lot. things are just getting way out of hand and it's not getting any easier.
