I believe it is in the eye of the beholder. Fanatical is defined as frenzied or extreme devotion. I would like to be described as a fanatical Christian if it were referring to my love for my Savior, however I think I fall short of demonstrating that characteristic. I think on here, it is just used in a deragatory way to describe persons with extreme beliefs that get to the point of being invasive, violent or insulting to the beliefs of others. But why is it, if someone is called a sports fanatic, or say a Chicago Bears fanatic, it isn't a bad thing? There's another question for you.......

A fanatical christian is an adherent or follower to a religion who gets involved witha pattern of violently and potentially deadly opposition to anyone he doesn't agree with. All religions may include fanatic finges. They are the jews, muslims, Christians and muslim and christians.

To me a fanatic is someone who is prejudice against anyone who doesn't share their beliefs. They belittle others beliefs and assume they are all bad or lost. They are the ones who blow up abortion clinics, beat up homosexuals and claim they are doing it in the name of all who follow their religion. I don't think someone who has a strong faith is a fanatic if they can accept that not everyone believes as they do, respect others beliefs, and not immediately assume if they don't believe the same that they are bad.

Fanatical means dedicated, fixated and obsessive. We could easily describe the majority of religious people in this way.

a christian who is so intent on the fact that their way is the right and only way that their mind closes to any other input that may be coming from other sources. they can sometimes be determined to force thier belief system on others without being invited. they tend to show complete inflexiblity and stick to their convictions, are reluctant to opening up to a joint conversation, and only wish to defend their post at all cost regardless if it is harming others and/or themselves.

Someone who claims teachings that are not found in the Bible, and still calls themselves a Christian. A true Christian has a thirst for God, and follows the Bible as is, no additions.

anyone who thinks they know it all, and they think their interruptation of the bible is the only one. Also one who is motivated by guilt and by works. By what to do and what not to do and those things come over everything else in life.
They don't know how to live life without preaching and condeming people. Somone who puts their faith and church before their simply connection to the amazing Creator of the Universe. Which is a very personal thing.

The one who comes to my door at 9 in the morning, hands me a bunch of pamphlets, invites himself in, tells me I am going to Hell if I am not saved, answers every question I ask by saying "God works in mysterious ways" or "But Jesus loves you, and you need his mercy" and practically begs me to come to church.
And no one can tell me that these people do not exist. One time a guy came from a protestant church and set up a time where he could come back (I was busy) and I dressed up as a demon and told him I worshipped Satan and that I wanted his blood just to get him TO LEAVE ME ALONE!
Even though I do not worship Satan.
And please do not tell me I am going to Hell.
Edit: oh and just reading, TJMiler seems just like one of these fanatical christians I was just typing about...

You can never be too fanatical about the Lord. You should love Him with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your mind. A true Christian worships the Lord whole heartily and wants to share the Word of the Lord with others, so they too, will enjoy eternal life.
