geewhiz is right. It's only when you both don't date anyone else. If she is still dating other men after about the 7th week of dating with you..then a guy should ask if they can be exclusive of other people. Or going steady? This can be a risky move...if she says I don't know...just take it as a no. She doesn't know you well enough to make that choice of yes.

It's not how many dates, it's when you both realize you want to make each other exclusive. You both will know if it is going to be more than just dates, as that is why we date....so we can get to really know someone.

i think that would depend on how old you are. i think as you get older it takes more dates than in jr high or high school (when things are a little more casual). i dated a guy for around 7 months before we decided to be bf/gf. i'm 26.
