Agnosticism is not bad, it is the philosophical view that the value of certain claims as truth—particularly theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities—are unknown, inherently unknowable, or incoherent, and therefore, irrelevant to life. The term and the related agnostic were coined by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869, and are also used to describe those who are unconvinced or noncommittal about the existence of deities as well as other matters of religion. The word agnostic comes from the Greek a (without) and gnosis (knowledge). Agnosticism is not to be confused with a view specifically opposing the doctrine of gnosis and Gnosticism—these are religious concepts that are not generally related to agnosticism.
Agnostics may claim that it is not possible to have absolute or certain spiritual knowledge or, alternatively, that while certainty may be possible, they personally have no such knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism towards religious statements. Some claim that there is nothing distinctive in being an agnostic because even theists do not claim to know God exists, only to believe it, and many even agree there is room for doubt; and atheists in the broader sense do not claim to know there is no God, only not to believe in one.

While Agnosticism is not a religion, it is a realistic view of life, for those unable to accept Atheism.

I would call myself agnostic and my girlfriend is catholic... we've been together for six years (as of yesterday). No belief system is "bad". I think about life and morality and the existence of god(s) everyday. I think you'll find Agnostics are really open-minded, though skeptical.

Dont listen to people like Bill Loomer (above): Atheism and Agnosticism are totally different things. All that "agnostic" means for me is that I dont think that certain things can be proven. It's not JUST about god, it's about all the big questions: "how did life begin?" or "how did the universe begin?" or "If God exists, how did he/she begin?" As far as I'm concerned, nobody was around to see these things happen so nobody can know for sure. If I cant know for sure, I can either admit I dont know, or I can make an assumption. I'd personally prefer to not make assumptions about such important matters.

All you need for a good relationship is love, respect and honesty. It doesn't matter what you both believe.

No, you should find that having a boyfriend that's an agnostic atheist is no different than having a christian boyfriend, except one goes to church much less.

However, just a tip to help out your relationship: don't try to convert him. Your efforts will likely end up fruitless and the only thing you'll succeed in doing is annoying him.

agnostic is NOT a religion. it comes from the greek language and translates "without knowledge". It means that a person doesn't have the capacity to understand if there is or isn't a god.

If your boyfriend is agnostic, then he doesn't know if there IS or ISN'T a god.

"Agnostic" is not a religion...its a lack of religion

Belief or lack of belief is a personal thing and has nothing to do with loving another person.

Agnosticism is not a religion. It's an absence of religion. This is someone who thinks there may be a God, but if there is, there is really no way to know.

I'm sorry, but...if you are a believer in Jesus...and love Him and God's word, what possibly can you have in common with someone who doesn't know Him?

First of all "Agnostic" is NOT a religion ! He doesn't believe in anything. If you are a Christian you either lead him to Christ or get away from him, that's it !!

At least, he is an agnoistic not an atheist. An agnoistic is one who neither believe in God or disbelieve in God but withholds his judgment. As a christian you could still convert him. However, for a successful relationship your religious beliefs should be compatible . And if you are contemplating on marriage and family, it's good to instill God in your relationship, family and life. Having a fear and love of God makes for better conscience and sense of values.
