I would only do this under doctor's supervision. Generally the dosage is lowered over a few weeks, depending on how high your current dose is. Try to get an appt w/ your doctor soon and see what he/she recommends.

Good luck!

Hi there Deb,

I used to take Zoloft for Anxiety & Panic Disorder.

It's not easy coming off it (yet the doctor's swear black & blue that they're not addictive).

However, the only safe way to wean off prescription medication is by following your doctor's withdrawal program.

Here are some possible side effects you could experience from withdrawal:

Here is a list of just some of the side effects you may experience:

• Dry mouth
• Urinary retention
• Blurred vision
• Constipation
• Sedation (can interfere with driving or operating machinery)
• Sleep disruption
• Weight gain
• Headaches
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Inability to achieve an erection
• Inability to achieve an orgasm (men and women)
• Loss of libido
• Agitation
• Increased Anxiety
• Depression
• Panic Attacks
• Shaking/trembling

It's extremely important you follow your's doctor's withdrawal program in order to lessen the severity of these withdrawal symptoms.

All the best!

Ask your doctor, but generally if you're on it you should stay on it unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Zoloft is a common and generally low-dose antidepressant but don't take yourself off anything without asking the doctor.

slowly and with the doctor's awareness. The doc does not have to agree, but must be aware to warn you of the risks of doing so and what to watch for.
