I have a tendancy to take naps when I get home from school. It causes me to wake up later than I want, and then homework is pushed back. Then, when it is time to go to bed I'm not tired and my whole schedule is thrown off. I need a good way to be sure that I won't go to sleep when I get home, even if I am sort of tired after school. Any suggestions?

If you hang out with someone or force yourself to stay up just after school and do this for a week or two, you shouldn't have any problem keeping this routine. Maybe exercise, eat a snack high in protein, and go to bed right after homework, even if it's earlier like 8 pm.

I had this same problem when I was in high school, college & then after work. You might try to make sure you drink plenty of water & eat a decent lunch. Don't eat anything too heavy or anything that might make you sleepy. There is nothing wrong with taking naps, though, as long as you set some rules for yourself. Maybe set some goals. Like, allow yourself a 30-45min nap only after some or all of your school work is done (do the more difficult stuff first). Good Luck!

PS- Stay away from caffeine during the day & if you are going to try caffeine to wake you up, drink some only after school to avoid the let down effect of the sugar and the caffeine.

Get your blood tested for anemia. Make yourself go to bed by 9 until you get on track. Wash your face in cold water and then do your homework. Get busy with chores or visit with friends until mealtime and then review your homework and get ready for bed. You will just have to make yourself go to bed early and stay there. My son took a growing spurt(3 in in 1 mo.) and this happened to him. The dr said his body was growing so fast that it was wearing him out! He had to quit sports and extras for a while and he got better. If you are anemic you will get better when you get some iron in you! Best wishes!

I have that problem all the time. Do an afterschool sport, or hangout with some friends. Also, go to bed early, sleep in school, and eat something at lunch!

eat some whole grains and fruit. do some EXERSICE after school this will give you energy. it wont feel like that at first but it will. also stay hydrated. cut back on sodas and drink water instead. i get tired when I'm dehydrated. if this doesn't help in 2-3 weeks go see your doctor.

Drink a MONSTER Energy Drink. There available at AMPM. Also, Red Bull, Full Throttle, JokerMAD, SOBE (so-bee) Energy, and Kronik are great tasting energy drinks. Vault is a hybrid of soda and energy drink, and it tastes exactly like Sprite. TAB is a good one too.

Don't sit or lie down. Go for a short walk, breathe really deep for awhile. Maybe take a quick shower and end it with c o l d water.

Drink caffeine. Also, keep moving when you get home. It's easier to continue working, rather than to take a break. Then, it's harder to start back up.
