Pedophiles tend to flock toward professions that give them access to children...scoutmasters, day care workers, teachers, and priests. These are professions that place adults in a position of being trusted with people's children. In the case of a priest, what better for a pedophile? Many people think they're above sin, they're placed on pedestals in the community, given ultimate freedom and respect, and if bothered by their consciences, they have direct access to God to make themselves feel better...until the next time. I don't think you're making blanket statements any more than I am, but I think the answer lies in trying to look into the mind of a pedophile.

OK Catholic Priests
In all walks of life we are influenced by different people such as backgrounds, and religions..the important thing is that we do not judge each religion by one person or several.
I am a believer that if someone has these feelings in them that it is not because they are a catholic priest but because they are wrong and for some unknown reason they decided even tho they are in the in the public views as a man of G-d but didn't consider what the influence on the public and believers would be..they are people who just do not belong in this situation
My grandfather lost his dad when he was younger..and there was a father who was very important to him, he always talked about how he fished with him, and gave him a father aspect but then also my grandfather was Lutheran, and loved the Lakotas very dearly..and later he met my grandma, and became pennicostal, all these people influenced him and was special but unfortunately not all of the people in the Fields nor any Fields think of the outcome or the how it affects people..
There is no way to stop these people from doing this but there is praying for them, and also realizing now days you cannot trust everyone not a religious figure, not a family member, not a strangers..it is up to us to teach our kids right from wrong and always be open to hear what they have to say..and if something as this should happen to take control and make sure that they pay for what they have done..but as for all of them i wouldnt feel all of them are this way..

I suspect deprivation for some, gay for others and little of both for a few. Perhaps , it is viewed as a position of power being abused.
You do hear or read about cases of female abuse, but I think throwing the whole 'gay thing' in the face of Catholicism is what some like to do. It stirs more muck that way.

Catholic Priest are NOT attracted to altar boys for any reason. The Priest that did molest young boys did so because they are sick and no other reason. Keep in mind that although there were a number of Priest guilty of this they were still a fraction of total population of Priests

wow that's a huge generalization. Not all catholic priests are pedophiles. There are some but the large majority of pedophiles are white middles class men, they are perhaps a sub group of that. The reason has nothing to do with religion.

I'd think more from deprivation. Plus, little boys are a lot more vulnerable and susceptible to a priest's words.

The 4% of Catholic priest that have been accused of sexual abuse of children are pedophiles, not gay.
From the tone of your question, I would suggest you feel more at home at a KKK rally than Yahoo Answers

because some are pedophiles... gayness is a different issue all together. Many of those priests who have been accused of abuse had female victims.

Well, you shouldn't generalize like that. Most priests aren't raging sodomites. But for the large number who are... probably sexual confusion brought on by forced celibacy. The priesthood is in sharp decline, though, so it shouldn't go on much longer.
