Yes. It also leads to racism, prejudice, legalism, etc. Fear can't stand diversity or freedom. Fear suspects everything and everyone else. Love is the only thing that can look all of life in the face and not be horrified.

Fear CAN lead to hatred but not necessarily so. You take fire. If you get to close you get burned. You probably become afraid of fire. If you get burned again and again you'll start to hate "fire".

On the other hand if you learn to control it you can use it for cooking and warming yourself when you are cold. You'll appreciate it.

Fear if used properly can lead to finding solutions to avoiding or eliminating the cause for your fear.

So, if you learn to controll or avoid what's causing your fear it does not need to lead to hate. You may even "love" it. Think of sitting by a fireplace in Winter.

Examine the cause of your fear realisticly. See if you can "get burned" and keep your safe distance and/or protect yourself from getting hurt.

How does that apply to fear of "others" or what they might do to you, your loved ones or your friends? Examine the cause! Why would they want to hurt you? They must have some reason why they would.

Did you give "them" a cause? If so, try to apologize to put out the "fire". Let them know you didn't mean to offend them. You may even win a friend, and if not keep a safe distance.

Above all, always think and act with respect and compassion for others just as you would like to be treated by "them".

Disrespect and lack of understanding causes hatred in others. And hate begets hate, and it tends to escalate.

Why not try to understand that they (like you!) are not perfect and can make mistakes. So forgive them and shake hands. You don't need to fear "them" anymore and you may get to like them as friends.

Or maybe it is that hatred is a form of fear?? That hatred is the manifestation of that fear??

For example, a racist of any form may hate, but that hate may just be fear that this "race" is taking all the jobs, screwing all the white women, or anything else this person is afraid of losing control of in his/her life.

But, i think when most say they "hate" spiders, mosquito's, etc it is not a true form of hate, but more of a disgust and an annoyance. I believe that true hate takes just as much passion and energy as does true love.

By George I think he's starting to see!

Yeah hate and all forms of anger are fear based.
The more afraid the more dangerous the anger becomes.

Its that old Flight/Fight/Freeze thing. We will react one of those ways to fear.

I AM interested in your religion or lack of religion mainly because that is the genre this question is in.

Of course I do.

If I remember right, the great and powerful Yoda said:

"Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering."

And really.... if you can't trust a green dwarf with a speech pattern dysfunction.... who CAN you trust?

Is it fear or just a lack of knowledge? Sometimes if people get a better understanding of what they fear, they no longer harbor feelings of hatred.

Ignorance leads to intolerance which leads to hate. Fear falls somewhere in between.
