Yes it's OK. If you are concerned about peer pressure, find new peers.

Yea its fine! if you don't want to do it then don't but also don't end up always driving and being the friend that doesn't drink that looks after people when they are having a big night!!

There is nothing wrong with having a few drinks every now and again but not if the situation isn't right. If you don't like the people you are with or where you are don't bother save you money!

Make drinking a social act not just getting pissed

Of course it's okay! For the longest time I wasn't interested (I was underage, and I didn't think breaking the law was the greatest idea).

After I turned 21 last December, I wanted to try alcohol. So I did. But I don't drink a lot... just every once in a while and in moderation. And it's pretty much been chocolate (Godiva liqueur and alcoholic milkshakes) because I'm a chocoloholic :)

I have GREAT respect for people who don't want to drink because I was like that for a long time and I don't get wasted or party like a lot of people at my school. So if you don't want to drink, don't. :)

Of course you don't have to have a drink if you don't want one. It is very mature of one to be able to say no to drinking. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

When I was in college, many years ago, I did not want to drink at a lot of the parties I attended. One girlfriend told me to pretend I was drinking a coke and rum or a 7 / 7 instead of plain coke of seven up. I thought that was silly. If I wanted a drink I'd drink one, if I didn't want one, who's business is it but mine? My own daughter, when she went to college felt the pressure to drink at first, but she knows that because of a medical condition drinking was NOT a wise choice. At first she'd take a beer and walk around with it and eventually put it down, but quickly she realized how stupid that was. So be your own person and do your own thing. Be strong!

Yes it is perfectly alright to not want to drink alcohol - some people go their whole lives without drinking it. and if you are of age it is ok to drink it occasionally as well - just don't drink to excess or you could really get into some trouble! Be your own person - you seem to be a strong willed person - you know what is right for you!

It's a personal choice so don't let anybody talk you into doing what you don't want to do. My 19 year old daughter doesn't even want a little wine with dinner for special occasions. My 17 year old daughter drinks like a fish if she can get away with it just like I did when I was her age. Remind those who try to get you to drink that there is more for them if you don't drink.

Of course! I say 'no' all the time. Don't let other people pressure you into putting things into your body. It's yours to live with for the rest of your life. If you want a healthy liver good for you. If you don't want a DUI and jail time, good for you. And don't feel like you have to make excuses either. Friends can get pushy at times. Hang in there.

Not wanting to drink alcohol is perfectly alright

Needing people on Yahoo Answers to validate your decision is a psychological problem that you should work on though.

Or course it's ok. I don't drink a lot either. When people start to put pressure on me to have one when I don't want it, I do tell them that I never drink when I am going to be driving. Either that or that I am allergic. Either will work.
